- Prowl is an evil Autobot from the Shattered Glass continuity family.
Prowl was a skilled detective, proficient at solving mysteries and spotting things the untrained eye would miss, like booby traps. However, he was also compulsive when it came to mysteries, and often got caught snooping around places leaving his own clues for mysteries to be solved.
He later got reformatted by Unicron into the heroic Checkpoint.

Prowl was one of the Autobots active on Earth under Rodimus Prime's command. When the Autobots learned Side Burn was hiding things from them, Prowl was part of a search team that uncovered a hidden laboratory Side Burn had been working from. Jetfire lumbered ahead and caught himself in some booby traps, so Rodimus instructed Prowl to clear the path for them. Prowl meticulously proceeded forward into the lab, catching, disabling or otherwise identifying the traps Side Burn had left as he did so. With Jetfire deactivated, Prowl seemingly moved up in the Autobot hierarchy as well. Coalescence
Following their bad defeat at Decepticon City on Earth at the hands of the Decepticons, Prowl was among the injured Autobots who boarded Sky Lynx to head for Cybertron. Restoration When their ride announced they'd have to lighten their load, Prowl, being among the most severely wounded of the Autobots, was dumped out of the airlock along with Optimus Prime and a number of others. They subsequently found themselves in the presence of Unicron. Familiar Reflections Unicron reformatted Prowl, turning him into Checkpoint, while Inferno and Ratchet became his troops, the Autotroopers. Collectively as the Knights of Unicron, they returned to Cybertron to help Nova Prime overthrow Rodimus. Out of the One, Many
As the Autotroopers took the Decepticons into custody, the dark Primus revealed his robot mode and prepared to do battle with the invaders, especially his multiversal sister Gaea, hidden inside positive-Earth. Nova Prime deployed the Knights to Primus's shoulders, where they blasted the insane god in the eye, blinding him long enough for Gaea to finish the fight. As a joint governing council of Autobots and Decepticons was established on the new, peaceful Cybertron, Checkpoint and the Knights of Unicron acted as their guardians. The Future Buried...
IDW Shattered Glass comic
Before the war, Prowl and Chromedome served under Orion Pax as members of Senate security. When ordered to crack down on Megatron's anti-empurata protests, Prowl made the mistake of insulting Megatron and his fellow Decepticons and got thrown aside by the Decepticon leader as a result. Shattered Glass #3 When Jetfire presented his findings on Titans to Orion Pax and his inner cadre of trusted associates, Prowl and Bumblebee caught Starscream spying on them and hauled him in front of Orion. When it became clear that Starscream would sabotage his own research to prevent the knowledge from falling into Autobot hands, Prowl and Chromedome chased him out to Metroplex's dig site but arrived too late to stop him from permanently scrambling the data files he and Jetfire had uncovered. Shattered Glass #3
During the war, Prowl followed Orion Pax, now Optimus Prime, and the other Autobots to Earth. Although he took part in the final battle of the war—a conflict that ended with the Autobots triumphant, Megatron felled, the Earth pillaged, and the broken remnants of the Decepticons in retreat—Shattered Glass #2 it became clear that Prowl had not survived the war unscathed; according to Optimus, the war had broken something in him that couldn't be repaired. Soon after their return to Cybertron, Prowl began planning against their leader; although Goldbug quickly realized what Prowl was up to, Optimus, confident that he could deal with whatever Prowl was planning, ignored his warnings. Soon enough, Prowl was able to play on Goldbug's frustration and convince him to support his upcoming coup. Shattered Glass #4
Their mutiny was only partially successful; although a number of Autobots supported them, Goldbug was unable to kill Optimus and retreated to Gold City to rebuild his powerbase. Shattered Glass #4 After a subsequent falling-out with Goldbug, Prowl took control over one-third of Cybertron and developed a reputation as the most fearsome of the three Autobot warlords. Blurr described Prowl's territory as a place where "everyone was on the menu". Shattered Glass #1
Following the deaths of Goldbug, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, Soundwave noted that Prowl remained a threat but that the Decepticons would fight him to bring peace to Cybertron. Shattered Glass II #5

Notes
- Prowl's design from Fun Publications is modeled on the 2008 Universe Deluxe Class Prowl toy, with a color scheme taken from the Mexican release of the Generation 1 Prowl toy. As Checkpoint, his design is based on Combiner Wars Offroad, with Combiner Wars Trailbreaker's head and Energon Checkpoint's color scheme. An earlier concept had him based on the Thrilling 30 Trailbreaker mold.[1]
- Checkpoint commanding the Autotroopers mirrors normalverse Scourge and his Sweeps.
- At one point, Checkpoint almost became the BotCon 2016 Customization Class figure. According to Shawn D. Tessmann, the Combiner Wars First Aid mold was chosen over a year prior, with Hasbro offering the unused Ratchet head. As the months rolled on, Ratchet was changed to Checkpoint when the Trailbreaker head was offered in its place (along with the Autotroopers as the year's troop-builder set). After a series of production issues, the figure was switched back to Ratchet. As a result, the figure still retains Checkpoint's base color scheme, allowing fans to repurpose their toy, should they be so inclined.
- Prowl's appearance in IDW Publishing's comic series is modeled on the War for Cybertron: Siege Deluxe Class Prowl toy—while the flashbacks, such as the one at right, show him in a made-up white, lime, and blue colour scheme, by the present day of the comic he's shifted to a darker livery closer in appearance to his Fun Publications counterpart.
- Prowl’s body from the Magic: The Gathering card, however, is modeled on the War for Cybertron: Earthrise Deluxe Class Prowl toy, Bluestreak’s head and all.
