JobbyTheHong review

Would it be worth noting under "Trivia" that David Kaye guest-starred in JobbyTheHong's fan review for the MP Megs? --Samus Aran (talk) 12:08, 22 May 2019 (EDT)

No.--Khajidha (talk) 12:21, 22 May 2019 (EDT)
Please find something else to edit about, for the love of God. Saix (talk) 12:26, 22 May 2019 (EDT)

Megahead Megatron

If one removes the toy's spider-legs in head mode, it fits into the head socket to the Fortress Maximus main body. Though this is likely unintended, it is pointed out here as an extra play feature.

It isn't just removing the legs. The figure's hands are shaped just right to slot into gaps around the hinges of Fortress Maximus, so that the figure isn't just resting in the gap. It would be good to mention this when describing how the two figures combine. You can see an image of the hands-into-gap thing in this old article:[1]

I would also suggest a mild revision to the second sentence I quoted, as with this much contrary evidence - even if circumstantial - it seems as like as not that this backwards compatibility was engineered into the toy by someone involved in the process. Even if it was originally never intended to be an "official" mode when this was just going to be a Beast Machines release.

Beast Machines Ultra Class Megatron

So, a user on Twitter posted images of what they're claiming is the unreleased Ultra Class Beast Machines Megatron we've never seen before. What should I do about this on the toys article itself? Here's the post in question: https://twitter.com/G1Grimlock1/status/1326169398114099200?s=20 --Digital Collector (talk) 23:06, 10 November 2020 (EST)

That is not the Ultra, which has still never been seen. That is a different mold for the Deluxe version, which eventually came out in RID01 and BWReturns (which is listed here). --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 13:23, 16 November 2020 (EST)

Kingdom Rubbery Skin

A TonTon review of Kingdom Megatron revealed a rubbery plastic used for the beast mode skin. (Of note is that it is apparently more in line with that found on standard dinosaur toys and less likely to melt paint or plastic over time.) However, owing to the guidelines and the likelihood of TonTon's copy being stolen, should we withhold this until we get an official confirmation? The video in question. Your friendly neighbourhood loof (talk) 10:32, 16 November 2020 (EST)

Correct, yeah, we need to wait on the figure's official release. Jalaguy (talk) 12:50, 16 November 2020 (EST)
Yeah. I was pretty sure that was the case, but it never hurts to check. That loof guy (talk) 14:15, 16 November 2020 (EST)

Okay, TFW2005 recieved official figures from Hasbro and Tony Bacala confirmed that Megatron has Rubber skin. Shall we add that note now? That loof guy (talk) 13:40, 20 November 2020 (EST)

Kingdom QC issues

There have been some reports of QC issues with Kingdom Megs, myself included (The hinge joint in the waist showing stressed plastic, breakage on the tabs to hold the back and thigh dinosaur panels on the robot mode). One other report reported the rubbery plastic for the dinosaur skin coming off in areas, and stressed plastic due to bending the left elbow too much. Is this worth mentioning in the article or are more substantiated claims necessaary? Dvdmuckle (talk) 12:51, 22 January 2021 (EST)

Kingdom Megatron smell

So I recently got Kingdom Megatron and mine just smells weird. Anyone else have this smelly Megs problem? Because it ain't me that is the stinker here--Wildstreak (talk) 20:14, 4 April 2021 (EDT)

Same here - it's degassing from his rubbery plastic. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 22:58, 4 April 2021 (EDT)
That's what it makes him smell? Interesting. I have not had any experience with PVC plastic before so it also explains why my Big Convoy also smells the same on his trunk. --Wildstreak (talk) 09:36, 5 April 2021 (EDT)

Basic Megatron's Beast Mode

I know this is pedantic, but I kinda think Basic Megatron's actually a crocodile and not an alligator. The snout's the dead ringer for this since it's V-shaped and not U-shaped, and his lower teeth show in Beast Mode. Should an edit be made? BaronXVI (talk) 22:06, 8 May 2022 (EDT)

Also relevant: the packaging for the two pack says "Crocodile turns into evil Predacon Commander!" on it. --abates (talk) 22:31, 8 May 2022 (EDT)
Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do for the Japanese side of the character. Takara went out of their way to outright name him "Megalligator" (メガリゲーター Megarigētā), under the impression that he's an alligator, not a crocodile. -- Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 05:41, 9 May 2022 (EDT)
Could always be a crocodile pretending to be an alligator! BaronXVI (talk) 00:11, 10 May 2022 (EDT)

Artistic license matters except when it doesn't

Though I disagreed with the decision to remove the comment about how to hide the robot head to make it look more like the show, I went along with it on the argument that it isn't in the official transformation. But I don't see any fair standard for taking that out but including the comment about folding the dragon legs wrong, also not in the official transformation, because that way looks more like the show. The two mods seem completely identical to me and there is no rhyme or reason in favoring one over the other. There are countless dozens of examples of us including show-accurate positioning details all over this wiki. I am asking for consistency - both in or both out - on the writeup of one toy. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 13:11, 2 October 2023 (EDT)

The difference is that Mainframe was working off the impression that the dragon's legs were extended instead of collapsed. The show model and the toy match up fine in that instance. Your fan transformation makes the tail look goofy, was clearly not designed as such, and Mainframe was clearly not basing the show's model on that particular mistransformation. (That said, I think the toy pic should have the legs properly collapsed, with the extend legs shown in a box as an alternate transformation to match what the show people were working off.) Saix (talk) 13:23, 2 October 2023 (EDT)
Tail mistransformation, for reference. Saix (talk) 13:32, 2 October 2023 (EDT)
While I have tried this in the past to hide the head, Like Saix said it's worth noting it ends up with the tail upside down, which doesn't match the show look. Realistically the only way to hide the head and have the tail not flipped would be to do a disassembly and put the tail in upside down.I'm not even sure could be done as I think theirs multiple pins and modifications that'd be needed. This really feels like a personal preference mistransformation to me then one worth noting as a result since it can't clearly match the show look without something being off. ParadoxFactor (talk) 13:37, 2 October 2023 (EDT)
But either way there's still a glaring mismatch between the toy and the show. Either the toy's tail is upside-down, or the show model has the tail on top and parallel to the spine. That is the sort of thing we always, always mention. (I am personally inclined to suspect an incomplete / abandoned gimmick step, like those we already know exist on this toy and Tigerhawk). What do people think of this alternate wording?
"The show model for this character differs from the toy somewhat more than usual for Beast Wars characters. The dragon legs are fully extended [--rest of the prior wording on legs restored]. Where the toy leaves the robot head exposed and the dragon tail disconnected from the spine, the show, ah, creatively reinterprets that area and makes a unified spine."
That way it doesn't look like legitimizing a fan-transformation, while still pointing out that something is different. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 13:57, 2 October 2023 (EDT)
That's an agreeable compromise. Saix (talk) 14:10, 2 October 2023 (EDT)
Thanks! --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 14:26, 2 October 2023 (EDT)
