Talk:Megatron X (Cyberverse)

From Transformers Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Since Cyberverse Megatron X is just Cyberverse Megatron from another universe, shouldn't he be treated as just another version of Cyberverse Megatron (like how we treat the Cartoon, Marvel, Dreamwave, IDW, etc. versions of various G1 characters) instead of giving him his own separate article? The Cyberverse articles for Optimus, Hot Rod, Teletraan-X, Windblade, Grimlock, Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Cheetor, and Rack'n'Ruin each even currently have an "Alternate universes" subsection in their "Cyberverse cartoon" sections set aside for the other versions of themselves seen in "The Crossroads" (and which will likely also include the dead alternate Optimus from Megatron X's universe seen in the finale). Cyberverse Megatron X isn't even all that different from Cyberverse Megatron, personality-wise, unlike how different some versions of G1 Galvatron are from G1 Megatron. He's just Cyberverse Megatron with his sadistic ruthlessness turned up to the nth degree. The core personality is still intact. And both Megatron and Megatron X even lived the same life up to when the latter killed his Optimus before the war began in their universe. --Sabrblade (talk) 21:02, 29 February 2020 (EST)

This one has a different name, character design, and (somewhat) backstory, unlike all those other characters. We treat him as separate. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 21:48, 29 February 2020 (EST)
He calls himself "Megatron", just "Megatron". Only the out-of-universe end credits identify him with the "X" moniker of the Tiny Turbo Changer.
And his look isn't that different since it's just a black-colored, slightly taller version of the same body that Main Universe Megatron had prior to his trip through the multiverse. If anything, Main Universe Megatron's new body that he gets during his multiverse trip is a more radical departure from his previous body since he has a whole bunch of new body details and even an entirely new altmode. Both Megatrons are simply in different body-upgrade forms that are both a step up from the same body that they each once shared between each other across universes. Think of it like how the one version of Cybertron Megatron was upgraded into Galvatron in the cartoon universe, while in another universe, a different version of him was instead upgraded in Beast Megatron, yet both versions of that Megatron are kept together on the same article. Granted, this particular analogy is comparing the situation of one cartoon's Megatron and an obscure BotCon/Fun Pub version of him with two versions of another cartoon's Megatron that were both actually featured in said cartoon, but in my defense, we've never had a mainstream Transformers cartoon so casually and blatantly play around with the multiverse (like BotCon/Fun Pub did) before now.
Likewise the backstory differences are no more significant than the Optimus who died before the war in another universe or the Rack'n'Ruin who became the Autobot Leader (or at least, Captain of the Ark) in that one other universe seen in "The Crossroads", and we're certainly not giving them their own articles, even when the end credits of that episode even distinctly named those other universe versions "Optimus Prime 2" "Optimus Prime 3", "Bumblebee 2", "Rack'n'Ruin 2", and so on. Much like how the aforementioned "Beast Megatron" version of Cybertron Megatron isn't getting his own article when he lived through some different experiences from his main counterpart in the Cybertron cartoon. Otherwise, this would just open the door for us to give any and all unique universe versions of a character their own articles, and that way just leads to madness and pedantically needless clutter.
Though, if enough opposition is raised to my reasoning for this Megatron to be kept on the main Megatron's article, then a fair compromise could be for this article to at least be tied to that Megatron's article with a character suite in the top-right corner, to which I would concede. --Sabrblade (talk) 23:56, 29 February 2020 (EST)
Or we just leave it as is because it's way easier this way. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 10:22, 1 March 2020 (EST)
Galvatron II. --Riptide (talk) 10:31, 1 March 2020 (EST)
I'd say a character suite would be good, but as is I'd consider them as separate as Galvatron and Galvatron II -- who's only really been identified with that out of character or with toys -- and say that they're distinctive enough in universe that listing them on the same page would be more confusing than the mild conceit of giving them a separate page. Tindalos (talk) 10:35, 1 March 2020 (EST)
Leave separate, per the reasons given by everybody else.--Khajidha (talk) 10:46, 1 March 2020 (EST)
