The Master Wars draw to a close as a new conflict begins.
Synopsis
The conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons has continued unabated throughout space for millions of years, but they have only recently been intensified by the presence of warriors and technology from planet Master, leading to the Master Wars. Due to the destruction of the space bridge, the Trainbots have been entrusted the task of transportation to Earth. There, they observe a previously unknown group of Transformers—the Pretenders. The other Autobots wish to return to a peaceful Earth, but a new power in the Decepticon ranks is rising.
Scorponok, whose transtector's destruction led to the recent decline of Decepticon military power, survived the ordeal. Indeed, the Trainbots have sighted a large scorpion transtector in an asteroid cluster, although whether it is the same transtector as before or a new one is unclear. The situation is further complicated when former Decepticon Sixshot sends a message to the Autobots about the mysterious leader of the Decepticon Pretenders—it would appear that Scorponok has joined with the Pretenders under the leadership of someone even more powerful!
Unable to assist the Autobot Pretenders on Earth, the space-bound Autobots send the Masterforce and its accompanying transtectors that allow humans to become Transformers. A limitation on the Masterforce is that it only works on the young. Metalhawk is appointed by Supreme Commander Fortress Maximus as head of the Autobot forces on Earth. Unfortunately for both Autobot fronts, half of the transtectors on the way to Earth were stolen en route.
Undergoing training from the seasoned Targetmasters, Chromedome's band of Headmaster warriors grow in skill and pass on their experience to their students, the Headmaster Teens.
