"Clever girl..."

Once a mercenary and assassin on Cybertron, Thrashclaw now leads her pack of Raptoricons on a strange, alien world, locked in an endless skirmish with the marauding Vespoid aliens who call the planet home. In spite of the gruesome fights that she's had to take part in, Thrashclaw is what you might call "noble" in comparison to most other Decepticons, preferring to fight honorably. Like the rest of her old team, she's well-adapted to the rigors of her new life, perfectly at home in her new dromaeosaurid beast mode.

"Don't turn your back to the cage."

Long ago, Thrashclaw learned about hand-to-hand combat from a mentor, from whom she also adopted a rigid code of honor.

From there Thrashclaw and another Decepticon named Slice found work as assassins for hire. News of their exploits proved popular on secret Decepticon sub-frequencies and forums. A young Autobot named Shred, who had been assigned to eavesdrop on said secret channels, had become a fan of theirs. After tracking them down and basically begging to join, the duo reluctantly acquiesced.

The group began working for the Kolkular Powerbase, a criminal syndicate, although Thrashclaw and Slice grew tired of their employer's endless scheming. Their last job would be a mission to an uncharted jungle world. To most other Decepticons, the Velocity's voyage was nothing more than an ordinary expedition to a primitive world. Their real mission, however, was to track down and secure a mysterious energy signature.

The planet itself was decidedly unnatural, containing more than 400 examples of non-native flora and fauna and massive reserves of untapped energon; the radiation proving hazardous to their systems. Most mysterious of all, however, was a massive research complex of alien origin. Most prominent of all, however, was their discovery of Gnash: a powerful but malformed Cybertronian who had been heavily experimented on. Thrashclaw's crew also discovered samples of advanced technology that worked to integrate organic and mechanical systems. Although the technology was not of Transformer origin, the Cybertronians realized that they could integrate this techno-organic system into their superstructures without difficulty.

Not wanting to return to Cybertron, the four Transformers decided to remain on this new planet. Adopting new, energon-proof beast modes based on some of the local animals, they became known as the Raptoricons. The Raptoricons encountered the Vespoids, an aggressive insectoid race that also inhabited the planet. Although Thrashclaw tried to make peace with the aliens, the two factions would clash repeatedly in a series of skirmishes, neither side able to overpower the other.

Following the crash of a stasis pod, the Raptoricons discovered Fractyl being held hostage by the Vespoids. The Raptoricons rescued him from the sacrificial altar, and Thrashclaw invited him back to their base. Along the way, Thrashclaw filled Fractyl in on the anomalous planet that they'd found themselves on. After arriving at their base, Thrashclaw was about to interrogate Fractyl, but another Vespoid attack cut the interrogation session short. The Raptoricons were able to repulse the attack, but not without Shred suffering severe damage and Gnash taken hostage by the aliens.

Thrashclaw and Slice planned to confront the Vespoids head on, but Fractyl realized that there might be a connection between the mysterious crystal that he'd discovered and Gnash's odd energy readings. Although they initially denied his request to stay behind on the ship, Fractyl finally confessed that Cybertron itself had been destroyed by Thunder Mayhem. Thrashclaw ordered Shred to keep an eye on the newcomer while she and Slice headed to the Vespoid nest, where they attacked. Although they put up a fight, the thousands of Vespoids threatened to overwhelm them. Fortunately, Shred and Fractyl—who had taken the liberty of reformatting himself into a pterosaur—arrived, realizing that the Vespoids simply wanted to feed on the greenergon beneath their ship, and their abduction of Gnash was a misguided attempt at helping the mutated Transformer.

After Impactor and Counterpunch arrived, Thrashclaw and the Raptoricons ratified a proper truce between themselves and the Vespoid Queen, establishing a mine for Vespoids near their ship. Although Impactor offered them a ride off-planet, Thrashclaw and the other Raptoricons declined, as they were more than happy to remain on their adopted homeworld. Life Finds a Way
