The time blaster, as its name suggests, is a weapon has the ability to freeze time for its target. A large enough model is capable of time-locking even an entire planet. The only way to avoid its effects is through a subatomically-controlled manipulation of the temporal field...but if that's too much of an ask, best to just stay out of its range.

The Merceneries' ship was outfitted with a massive time blaster, while their leader Soundblaster carried a smaller handheld model. Whenever they chose a planet as their next target, such as the Dinobots' homeworld, they would use their ship's time blaster to freeze the inhabitants before ransacking it. While they managed to do the same for Cybertron, immobilizing its population during the signing of the Treaty of the Wall, their plans to loot it were thwarted by Grimlock and the Dinobots, thanks in part to a quantum field developed by Swoop that their combined form Volcanicus used as a shield against the blaster's effects. For this failure, their boss Trypticon fired them all, only to be frozen when Volcanicus grabbed Soundblaster's time blaster and used it on him. The Dinobots later unfroze Wheeljack, who worked with Swoop to reverse-engineer the blaster and create a device that would reverse its effects on everyone else save Trypticon, though the machine couldn't take the strain and was destroyed in the process.
