Vorath is a Decepticon-allied Nebulan Headmaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Vorath was the former Minister of Science of the planet Nebulos. A Zarak loyalist, Vorath was expelled from his office when Galen uncovered his involvement in illegal medical experiments on live subjects. Seeking revenge, Vorath gained the chance to do so and continue his experiments with the arrival of Transformers and the creation of the Headmasters, when he agreed to binary bond to Mindwipe.

While enjoying the excitement of his new life as a Headmaster, Vorath is a scientist to the core, and the more secular-minded Nebulan's outlook often causes conflict with his more mystical-minded partner.

Vorath's nature varies. In some universes he is an organic Nebulan; in others he is a robotic Cybertronian.

Marvel The Transformers comics

When Fortress Maximus's Autobots first came to Cybertron, Lord Zarak became convinced they had arrived with ill-intent, and set about producing a campaign of fear-mongering against the aliens. Serving as Zarak's technical adviser, Vorath was a key player in helping him spread xenophobia among the people of his planet. After observing an anti-Autobot riot staged by Zarak, Vorath paid visit to the Autobots' headquarters with his boss. There, Vorath copied some broadcast signals so that his associates could later contact Cybertron, and beckon the Autobots' enemies to come over and exterminate them. Broken Glass!

Following the Decepticons' arrival on Nebulos, Vorath helped reverse-engineer the Headmaster technology for their forces. He was binary-bonded with Mindwipe, and became able to transform into the Decepticon's head. With their newfound battle prowess, the Decepticons lured their heroic counterparts into an ambush, where Vorath/Mindwipe proved instrumental in securing a Decepticon victory. They hypnotized a group of Nebulon Council delegates, ordering the civilians to enter the Decepticon base so they could be enclosed inside levitating bubbles. With the Council Peers under threat of floating up beyond Nebulon's atmosphere, the Autobots were forced to refocus their efforts into rescuing them. This allowed the Decepticons time to outflank Fortress Maximus's soldiers, and gun them down at their leisure. Love and Steel!

The Decepticons' next conflict against the Autobots took them to the Mercury Gardens of Melanossus, where Vorath acted independently for most of the clash. Scorponok called upon him to merge with Mindwipe for the final push, and the few Autobots that hadn't been slaughtered were sent fleeing into Nebulos's swamp lands. Upon separating from his Decepticon partner, Vorath boasted off that their triumph had been guaranteed due to their technological superiority. Some time later, Vorath intercepted an Autobot communication, alerting him and Zarak to the existence of Earth; there, a greater conflict between the Cybertronians was taking place. Another project he was assigned to was duplicating the Autobots' Targetmaster process. But by this time, Zarak had grown concerned about the suffering the war had brought to his homeworld. Soon after Vorath's latest creations were unleashed, both factions quit Nebulos for the planet he had learned about earlier. Brothers in Armor!!

Upon approaching the "mudball," Vorath pinpointed the exact location from where the Autobots' distress signal had emanated from. Joining up with his Decepticon partner once more, he then accompanied Scorponok to the planet's surface, leading to a confrontation against the Autobots within the caverns of Mount St. Hilary. In his combined configuration, he made the mistake of calling his boss "Zarak", and was swiftly corrected: henceforth, their leader preferred to always be addressed as "Scorponok" when himself combined with his robot body. Trial by Fire!

Vorath next helped Scorponok set up a genetics lab, where the two of them created the Decepticons' Pretender forces. As six of their troops were bonded with synthoplasmic outer shells, however, Vorath noticed that a program had infiltrated their systems. Though he attempted to get rid of the intruder with a debugging sequence, the program soon returned to shift through their files. Having grown curious about these incidents, Scorponok had Vorath input his mind into the computer so he could more closely inspect who was interfering with their plans. Following a brief confrontation against Optimus Prime in the digital world, Scorponok had Vorath pull him back into the physical world to avoid total defeat at his opponent's hand. Pretender to the Throne!

After Scorponok managed to isolate Highbrow in the wilderness, he had Mindwipe use his hypnotic powers to give the Autobot a severe case of amnesia. Scorponok tried to convince the brainwashed Highbrow that he was really a Decepticon, but Highbrow remained ill at ease. The Decepticons tried to defuse the tense atmosphere by transforming their heads into Nebulan mode. Unfortunately, it was at this point that they discovered Mindwipe's fatal mistake: He had neglected to also blank the mind of Highbrow's partner, Gort. With a swift uppercut, Gort knocked out Vorath, taking Mindwipe out of the fight, and leaving Scorponok to deal with the Autobot alone. All in the Minds!

After Ratbat voiced his disgust for organics during a meeting between his troops and those serving under Scorponok, the latter took offense at the comment. He had Zarak reveal his human form to show Ratbat that he was in fact dealing with the very kind of life form he abhorred, with Vorath and the other Decepticon Headmasters following suit. Cold War!

Vorath was among several Hive members who were rebuilt as Headmasters in order to match the firepower of the Hive's rivals and their new Autobot allies. Vorath complained about being required to merge with Mindwipe, feeling that as a prestigious scientist, he deserved better than being partnered with a night-stalking bat. But Mindwipe hypnotized Vorath, who was then powerless to resist the binary-bonding process and called Mindwipe "Master" afterwards. The Rebirth, Part 2

Released in the fourth year of Hasbro's US The Transformers toyline (third year in Europe and in Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers line), Headmaster Vorath transforms from an armored humanoid into a robot head. Though he only came with his partner Mindwipe, in head mode he is compatible with any other Headmaster body. On the larger Headmasters, he gives three of Mindwipe's Tech Spec stats in their display window, but the smaller ones still display their normal heads' stats due to their construction.

Available only with Titans Return Mindwipe, Vorath was released as part of the second wave of Titans Return Deluxe Class toys. He can either ride in Mindwipe's torso in his beast mode, or form his head in his robot mode, or, for that matter, form the head of any other Deluxe, Voyager, or Leader Class figure from the same line.

Vorath was retooled into Legends Vorath, the small Headmaster stage of Legends Wipe, and his torso was reused for Legacy G1 Universe Lokos.

Released as part of the Retro Headmasters line, Vorath is a slight redeco of Legends Wipe's Headmaster stage, using the anime-inspired face sculpt for Vorath's head mode. Due to having the same paint applications as Wipe, Vorath gains a silver face and red visor, which is more akin to his animation appearance.

Mindwipe (and by extent, Vorath) was a Walmart exclusive in the US and Canada, and a Warehouse and Toyworld-exclusive in New Zealand.

Vorath is one of forty-six double sided character cards included in Wave 5 of the Transformers Trading Card Game, Titan Masters Attack. As a Titan Master, Vorath begins play in head mode on a character with a body mode. When that character is KO'd, Vorath is deployed in bot mode. In order to represent Vorath's size as a Titan Master, the card is the size of a battle card, about half the size of a normal character card.

The card's art is based on the Vorath Titan Master included with the Titans Return Mindwipe toy. The head mode artwork is reused from said toy's packaging artwork, and the bot mode features original artwork. Lines for both modes were drawn by Ken Christiansen with colors by Teritori Design.

This card's set was originally set for an April 2020 release, however due to the global COVID-19 pandemic the release was pushed back to May 29, 2020.
