Disha is a contemporary Indian writer and director. As a director-editor on the film Bombay 70 (2015), Disha won the Silver Gateway of India Award for Best Short Film, and for Meet The Voice (2017), she won Best Short Documentary. Disha also directed the short documentary Main Hoon Team Balika (2017), funded by the Sundance Institute's Stories of Change Initiative and the Skoll Foundation; the film has been made part of recruitment efforts all over India to encourage girls' education. As a writer, Disha wrote additional screenplay for Konkona Sen Sharma's directorial debut, A Death in the Gunj, and she co-wrote and associate directed Jai Mehta's debut short film Paanipath (2017), commissioned by National Geographic and presented by National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta. She has directed a dynamic music video for the folk band Maati Baani. Disha wrote and directed the short film Shimmy (2021), starring Pratik Gandhi and produced by Sikhya Entertainment, which was released on Amazon Mini TV. It received widely positive reviews and notable awards and recognition in the short films circuit. Disha co-directed episodes alongside Vasan Bala for his unscripted series on Amazon Prime - Cinema Marte Dum Tak - a mature and sensitive behind-the-scenes peek into the pulpy world of low budget films. She is presently developing an unscripted series for Vice Studios as the creator and lead director, and is also prepping for her debut feature film with Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan's MacGuffin Pictures. Most recently, Disha was the associate director on Konkona Sen Sharma's Lust Stories 2 film.
