The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has emerged as one of the biggest movie franchises in the world and it boasts a roster filled with top-tier talent. However, things have been a little iffy based on the MCU’s latest releases and fans weren’t really pleased with the outcomes of movies like Eternals and a ton of other TV series that were supposed to lay the groundwork for the Multiverse saga.

With its reputation hanging on by a thread, there’s one move that the MCU can make that might just win their fanbase over once again. What’s the solution you may ask? Adding Christopher Nolan into the equation for future releases.

Not Cillian Murphy! 2-Time Oscar Winning British Actor Has Appeared in Most Christopher Nolan Movies
Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy are synonyms of the Hollywood industry. One of the biggest directors of the 21st century and the Oscar-winning Irish star of modern cinema has an iconic partnership that goes beyond working together professionally. Nolan and Murphy have worked on some of the biggest projects such as Inception, Oppenheimer, Batman Begins, Dunkirk, and The Dark Knight Rises. While Murphy’s unbelievable acting performances in Nolan’s movies have been universally acclaimed, the Peaky Blinders star isn’t the one who has most appeared in Nolan movies.

In Hollywood where each and every step of an actor is being watched, it’s almost impossible to get past the gaze of the paparazzi. While this comes attached with fame and success, sometimes these media outlets don’t know where to draw the line. In the case of Spider-Man actor Toby Maguire as well one night out became so frustrating for him, that he ended up punching a paparazzi.

The public is currently engaged on how Tom Holland saved Zendaya from a swam of reporters and fans. While this is surely cute, Maguire on the other hand showcased what a true menace looks like.

After the success of Oppenheimer and the cultural significance of films like Interstellar, Inception, and The Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan has become one of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood. With this in mind, it is not surprising that the filmmaker’s next film is highly anticipated in every regard.

Wave goodbye to Brat Summer, and say hello to Hot Tom Summer. It's been three long years since Tom Holland's Spider-Man last graced the silver screen in "No Way Home," the crossover bonanza that united three separate franchises into an "Avengers"-sized behemoth. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone through a bit of a shakeup in the years since, leaving the wall crawler's next step somewhat up in the air -- whether it be a possible appearance in the recently-released "Venom: The Last Dance" or in another standalone film. The actor has previously assured the legions of fans that plans for a "Spider-Man 4" have been in the works, conditioned on its writers delivering a worthy enough story. This afternoon, those plans have now inched significantly closer to becoming a reality ... and it's big news for Holland fans everywhere.

Christopher Nolan has been attracting the eyes of critics throughout his entire career. Although it was working with a minuscule budget of $6,000 and only played in a few theaters in the United States, his 1998 debut feature "Following" was praised for its tight storytelling and terse psychological underpinnings. Nolan then rose to international fame with his 2000 film "Memento," a neo-noir about a man unable to form new memories. Its backward-chronological-order plot was cleverly conceived and impeccably laid out, somehow coming to a traditional narrative climax even while running in reverse.
From there it was off to the races, so to speak. Nolan became a power player in Hollywood, directing gigantic movie stars like Al Pacino and Robin Williams in a remake of "Insomnia" and making a gigantic, zeitgeist-shifting hit with 2005's "Batman Begins." Nolan's three Batman movies are still spoken of with enthusiasm to this day. Their success also allowed him...

It’s somehow appropriate for a film about symbiotic creatures that the third and, for the time being, final instalment of Marvel’s Venom saga should be largely populated by British actors playing Americans. Aside from leading man Tom Hardy, who plays investigative journalist Eddie Brock, there’s Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, and a return for Stephen Graham, coming back for more (but not much) after Venom: Let There Be Carnage. It’s a great cast for sure, and the Venom franchise has always delivered on that front. But there’s a bit of Dunkirk spirit here, and it’s the poker-faced commitment of the supporting players — not to mention the surprisingly focused and largely unfussy direction of first-timer Kelly Marcel — that holds the fort in a film that struggles, much like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, to justify its existence.

As a rumour emerges that Christopher Nolan might be making a vampire horror next, we look at some unsettling moments from his earlier work.
The success of Oppenheimer was so unexpectedly huge that, if Christopher Nolan were to walk into a studio with a script about the making of decorative wall plates, executives would sign a cheque without asking too many questions.
Instead, one rumour rolling around is that Nolan has some sort of genre film in the works – according to the singularly intense YouTuber Grace Randolph, Nolan’s next project is in a similar “genre space” to movies coming out “in the next couple of months.” When a viewer on Randolph’s live stream asked whether it was some sort of horror film, Randolph replied, “That’s a good guess.”

The latest update from Christopher Nolan’s next film after Oppenheimer sounds very promising. Spider-Man fame Tom Holland is reportedly in talks to star alongside Matt Damon in the new film. While the theme and plot of the new film are kept tightly under wraps, Nolan earlier this year expressed his interest in making a horror film.

Fans have speculated that the Interstellar director has finally come up with a “really exceptional idea” for his horror film. While Nolan is yet to make a full-fledged horror film, he has included horror elements in his films including Christian Bale’s Batman Begins and his war film Dunkirk.

Tom Holland is in talks to join the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next film.
Should the deal go through, the “Spider-Man” actor would star alongside Matt Damon in the otherwise top-secret film. Nolan is writing and directing the movie, which Universal Pictures is releasing in theaters on July 17, 2026.
Universal had no comment about Holland’s casting.
The upcoming feature, which does not have a title, is expected to start shooting in early 2025, though Holland’s casting could prove challenging to production timelines. The actor, best known for playing Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be busy with “Spider-Man 4” and potentially the next “Avengers” sequel over the next year and change, as first noted by the Hollywood Reporter. In between stints as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Holland appeared in the West End adaptation of “Romeo & Juliet” alongside Francesca Amewudah-Rivers.

Acting has become a profession that everyone likes to try their hands on. This is not exclusive to those who wish to see themselves get famous, as some of the most successful names in the industry have tried their hands in a film or two. Naturally, the One Direction icon, Harry Styles, also joined this trend and has been starring in projects here and there.

He has been in many well-known projects, ranging from Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, Marvel’s Eternals, and most famously, Don’t Worry Darling. However, it would seem that these few projects weren’t enough for the actor. It was reported that the star was supposed to be a part of the remake of Nosferatu.
Thankfully, this was not seen through, and Nicholas Hoult ended up replacing the singer.

When it comes to predicting the Oscar winner for Best Film Editing, you can’t go wrong by looking for the movie with the most cuts. Past winners “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2008), “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2016), “Ford v Ferrari” (2020), “Dune” (2022) and 2023’s champ “Everything Everywhere All at Once” included high-octane action sequences with frenetic cutting. A slew of winners — including “Saving Private Ryan” in 1999, “Black Hawk Down” (2002), “The Hurt Locker” (2010), “Hacksaw Ridge” (2017), “Dunkirk” (2018) and, to some extent, “Oppenheimer” (2024) — have been war pictures. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Film Editing.)
Oscar voters also embrace film editors who skillfully juggle multiple storylines, as was the case with “Traffic” (2001) and “Crash” (2006). And they like films that expertly inter-cut music with images, such as “Cabaret” (1973), “Chicago” (2003), “Whiplash” (2015), “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2019) and 2021 winner “Sound of Metal.” Special effects extravaganzas like “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” (2004) and “Gravity...

Christopher Nolan is returning to Universal for his next film.
Matt Damon, who appeared in “Interstellar” and “Oppenheimer,” is in talks to star. Nolan is set to write and will produce with Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner.
Following the success of “Oppenheimer,” which earned seven Academy Awards and grossed $958 million worldwide, it’s no surprise Nolan would re-team with the studio.
Sources tell Variety that Universal is planning an Imax release for the title on July 17, 2026. Plot details for the project remain under wraps. Universal had no comment.

For Steven Spielberg, World War II represents an era shrouded in endless mystery, tragic battles, and stories with a beginning, a middle, and an end — although not necessarily in that order. Saving Private Ryan, for instance, starts in the middle of D-Day at Omaha Beach. But the titular character himself remains absent throughout the entire film, showing up only at the eleventh hour.

While Tom Hanks & Co. make their way across an impossible landscape to retrieve the last surviving Ryan brother, the audience sits through an intense and painful 160 minutes of absolute uncertainty about the heroes’ fates. Their final moments, in true Spielbergian fashion, reflect the power of the director’s storytelling, whose influence can still be seen today in films like Hacksaw Ridge, Flags of Our Fathers, and Dunkirk.

Previously Warner Bros. used to be Christopher Nolan’s go-to production company for his iconic films. However, after Tenet, Nolan had a fallout with the company leading him to release Oppenheimer under Universal Pictures and Atlas Entertainment. Filming has begun in Scotland on Big Beach’s adaptation of Borges And Me starring Fionn Whitehead, Luis Gnecco, and Alan Cumming.
Marc Turtletaub directs from a screenplay by Oren Moverman in which the memoir’s author Jay Parini finds himself stuck in a Morris Minor chauffeuring the brilliant, blind Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges through Scotland in 1970.
As a young student, Parini harbours dreams of becoming a writer and struggles to make sense of the 70-year-old, irrepressible Borges, until events take a surreal turn, leading the men to a place where they find common ground. The cast includes Peter Mullan and Harriet Sansom Harris.

Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan is often considered to be one of the greatest films ever made in Hollywood. Starring an in-form Tom Hanks, the World War II epic follows a group of soldiers tasked with retrieving a fellow soldier on active duty after he is discharged due to the deaths of his three elder brothers.
The film received several accolades upon release, including a second Best Director Oscar for Spielberg and Best Cinematography for Janusz Kamiński. The filmmaker reported went against his usual controlled cinematography style and chose to go fully handheld to give the viewers a visceral experience that resembled the actual combat.

Beginning his career at the Brighton School of Art in the UK, Crowley moved to Hollywood in the 1990s where he landed a Second Unit Art Director role on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. He then worked on films by directors like Barry Levinson and Joel Schumacher. His first collaboration with Christopher Nolan was on Insomnia.

Since 1888, following the creation of the first-ever movie, the Roundhay Garden Scene by Louis Le Prince from Leeds, England, the technology used in the movie industry has upgraded drastically. Over time, developers devised ideas to create animated movies and stop-motion films, then came color television, the 3D era, and so on.
Today, we enjoy movies shot by IMAX cameras, which are extremely expensive in the commercial market. Movies shot using IMAX equipment have a much higher resolution, allowing viewers to see a detailed product on the silver screen. So, in honor of the Canadian group that invented the “Image Maximum” cameras, here’s a list of the best movies filmed with it!

Exclusive: Filming has wrapped in Wales on Mr. Burton, the upcoming biopic about the man who inspired screen legend Richard Burton.
Independent Entertainment has sold UK and Ireland rights to Icon Film Distribution, which will release the film theatrically in 2025 to coincide with the centenary of Burton’s birth.
As we first revealed, the film will tell the true story of the relationship between Welsh schoolmaster Philip Burton and a wild young schoolboy called Richard Jenkins. The latter dreamed of becoming an actor, but his ambitions were in danger of being derailed by a combination of family trouble, the pressure of war, and his own lack of discipline. Mr. Burton recognized the raw talent in his pupil, and made it his mission to fight for him, becoming his tutor, strict taskmaster and eventually his adoptive father. Actor Burton would go on to be nominated for seven Oscars and was well...

It’s time to look at the work of one of the greatest directors of our generation: Christopher Nolan. A caveat – our Christopher Nolan movies ranked list is just one person’s opinion, and his work is divisive. Everyone has their favourites (and least favourites), so I’m hoping this ranking will open up some discussion in the comments below. We do not include Following in this list, as it’s only 69 minutes and can’t be put on the same level as his other work – although it’s an interesting black and white curio. Also, note that this list ranks all of his movies from worst to best, so if you don’t see your favourite film of his right off the top, don’t panic!

The Best Christopher Nolan Movie Almost Turned Into a Horror Film That Was Turned Down By Will Smith
Christopher Nolan has always defied the limitations of art and science by playing outside the sandbox to develop a genre entirely of his own making. No two Nolan movies have ever been similar in that respect and the director’s obsession with the complex nature of time has lent him the ability to craft stories that are more original than most films over the last couple of decades.

Beyond the insidious psychopathy of The Dark Knight, the war homage of Dunkirk, the sci-fi epic of Interstellar, and the Oscar-winning existential threat of Oppenheimer lies a visionary genius who captures the magic of humanity through all its peaks and valleys. The only genre that has escaped a spot in Nolan’s filmography is horror – although the director intends to soon make it right.

The use of sound in cinema has been a delicate instrument of storytelling, for generations. However, in the modern world of filmmaking, where directors have often let sound fade into the background, Christopher Nolan challenged the conventional, and emerged with a profound sense of scale, noise, and music, that helped redefine audiences’ experience of a film.

Unfortunately, despite his audacious take on transforming the auditory landscape into a visceral force, Christopher Nolan often found himself and his films on the brink of criticism. Nolan’s World War II drama Dunkirk, which immersed viewers in the harrowing reality of war through a groundbreaking sound design, happens to be a striking example where the filmmaker faced criticism for his auditory revolution.

Christopher Nolan has long been a fan favorite, there’s nothing he could do that would make the public turn on him. For years, people have been eagerly hoping he’d take the reins of a Bond film, and it’s easy to see why this idea is a slam dunk. Need another reason to back this golden notion?
Just check out how he transformed Anne Hathaway into a sensational Catwoman. If Nolan can work that kind of magic, just imagine what he could bring to the world of Bond!

She didn’t. “I don’t think I really really wanted that, to be in the public eye,” she said.
If you had told film fans in the 2000s that Lohman would have essentially vanished from the big screen in 2024, they might have a hard time believing you. The Dog Days of summer—vaguely from mid-July through mid-August, depending on who does the counting—may not seem like much of an Oscar crucible. You’d think most Academy voters would be sipping Margaritas in Malibu, or Limoncello Martinis somewhere on the Mediterranean.
But as often as not in the last fifteen years, the Dog Day bracket has produced a Best Picture nominee. And last year, of course, it brought a winner in Oppenheimer, which was released alongside fellow Best Picture nominee Barbie on July 21, and was still going gangbusters in mid-August.
There’s a certain rough charm to the Dog Day nominees. They tend to be audience favorites, movies that connect with the movie-hungry middle, which powers them into the Oscar race, whatever the somewhat fussier film professionals may think.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight had a score that was addictive as well as haunting for fans. The Joker theme stood out in the film and the legendary Hans Zimmer was predominantly behind the score. Zimmer worked alongside James Newton Howard in the film but their work in the film was mostly split. While Zimmer worked on the Joker theme, Howard was tasked with the score for Harvey Dent’s arc.

With so many geniuses in the industry, some stand out more than others. But what’s really surprising is that at least one of them doesn’t follow this trend.

With all the excitement coming out of Comic-Con for Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus panel, fans can tell the filmmaker gets it. Christopher Nolan Once Blamed Harvey Weinstein For Compromising Oscars Integrity. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Long before taking home the coveted Academy Award for Best Director for Oppenheimer, Nolan slammed the ceremony and blamed Harvey Weinstein’s aggressive 1999 Oscar campaign for compromising its integrity. Nolan believed Oscar compromised their core values and succumbed to the disgraced Miramax producer’s marketing campaign.

While Barbie may have earned the big billion at the box office, Nolan’s three-hour epic on the horrors of nuclear war was not far behind in box office returns, and it also won big at the Oscars. One scene in particular, Nolan mentioned, captured the attention of the viewers so much that he was spellbound when he walked into the theater secretly.

Currently a solo pop star cum actor, Harry Styles has come a long, long way since his days as one of the members of the now-disbanded English-Irish pop boy band One Direction. Not only has he made his official acting debut with 2017’s Dunkirk, but besides being one of the most influential men in music and fashion, he has also scored a position in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This happened when he said yes to 2021’s Eternals, which featured his cameo as Eros in the film’s mid-credit scene. But while fans have been patiently waiting to see more of him in character in the sequel, it seems like his career in the MCU just may already be over even before fully taking flight. This comes after Kevin Feige’s heartbreaking update on Eternals 2.

Christopher Nolan is known to make films that tell larger-than-life stories and often transcend the realms of reality. His films are made for the perfect theatre experience that will have your heart beating through your chest. However, with his 2017 historical war thriller, Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan decided to take a more grounded route and retell the story of the Dunkirk evacuation of World War II with a little bit of dramatization.
Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk (2017) | Warner Bros. Pictures
Dunkirk is considered to be one of Hollywood’s best war films to date and was crafted to absolute perfection. However, there was a time when Christopher Nolan basically wanted to wing it all. Thanks to his extensive research and attention to detail, the filmmaker was convinced that he could make the film from start to finish without a script. Thankfully, his wife was right there to stop him.

Happy birthday, “Barbie” — you left big Birkenstocks to fill.
“Twisters” (Universal) opens this weekend, the one-year anniversary of Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster. It’s the sole new wide release on a July date that often sees the debut of top summer releases like “Oppenheimer,” the “Lion King” remake, “Dunkirk,” “The Dark Knight,” and “The Dark Knight Rises.” It often sees the last big opening before schools start their return in August.
However, director Lee Isaac Chung’s “Twisters” is not the last big opening of this season. Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” opens the following week to an anticipated $150 million or more. That’s more than the total box office anticipated for this weekend; at best, it will be less than half of the $311 million grossed on July 21-23, 2023.
No one expects the “Twisters” opening to come close to that of the Marvel sequel — but “Twisters” projections of $40 million-$50 million seem unreasonably low.

Industry heavyweights Atticus Ross (“Shogun”), Michael Minkler (“Masters of the Air”) and Robert Elswit (“Ripley”) were among those who led the Creative Art Emmy nominations on Wednesday morning.
FX’s “Shogun” dominated the Emmy nominations Wednesday morning, landing 25 nods. The drama series based on James Clavell’s epic novel landed musician and composer Ross a nomination for music composition for a series while costume designer Carlos Rosario was also nominated.
Speaking with Variety, Rosario explained how he created over 2300 designs for the series set in feudal Japan.
Elswit, who reunited with directed Steven Zaillian for Netflix’s “Ripley,” earned his first Primetime Emmy nod. The Oscar winning Dp (“There Will Be Blood”) sat down for Variety’s Inside the Frame series and explained how he wanted to get inside Tom Ripley’s (Andrew Scott) mind and give the series a painterly effect.
