Workplace expectations for fathers may have changed over the decades, but organizations may need to do more to gain benefits from enabling all workers to spend quality time with their families, according to an Academy of Management Perspectives article. In “Updating the Organization Man: An Examination of Involved Fathering in the Workplace,” the authors conducted two studies to: -understand how men see themselves as fathers in the context of work in light of changing expectations of fatherhood roles -determine how involved fathering affects the workplace Their studies showed that “the more time fathers spend with their children on a typical day, the more satisfied they are with their jobs and the less likely they are to want to leave their organizations. Further, they experience less work-family conflict and greater work-family enrichment.” Read the full #AOMInsights Summary: https://lnkd.in/emsPyiik #AOMScholars: Jamie Ladge of Boston College, Beth Humberd of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Marla Baskerville Watkins, Ph.D of Northeastern University, and Brad Harrington of Boston College. #workingdad #paternityleave #fatherhood #management #managementresearch
