Don’t Waste My Time! The Development and Validation of the Wasted Time Perceptions Scale https://lnkd.in/eiqi5NvX By Brian C. Holtz, Crystal M. Harold, Harshad Puranik, & Kristian Gardner Ever feel like your time is being wasted at work? You're not alone. In this article, we explore what it means to have your time wasted by others at work, develop a measure to understand this experience, and examine what happens when others (e.g., your boss, colleagues) waste your time. We find that wasted time triggers a host of negative outcomes including frustration and counterproductive behaviors. We offer suggestions for managers on how to prevent people from wasting each other's time and what to do when it happens.

Losing Their Religion: Organizational Identity Hybridization of British Political Parties 1950–2015 https://lnkd.in/ekm2JixF By Stefan Arora-Jonsson, Filippo Carlo Wezel, Soorjith I Karthikeyan, and Vitaliano Barberio How do organizations develop hybrid identities? We investigate this in a longitudinal study of the identity shifts of the British political parties (link to study) where we show that identity hybridization was enabled by institutional change, and the use of two different identity change strategies by the parties. Apart from providing a better understanding of the dynamics of political parties, we provide one of the few studies of hybridization of existing identities and illustrate the link between institutional and identity change.

Understanding Knowledge Sharing From an Identity-Based Motivational Perspective https://lnkd.in/eJAyFw29 By Anne Burmeister, Yifan Song, Mo Wang, and Andreas Hirschi How can we unlock employees’ knowledge potential by getting employees to share their valuable knowledge at work? Our research suggests that we don’t need to make employees share their knowledge, instead we should appeal to and support an employee's inner driving forces to share knowledge (i.e., their knowledge sharing identity). We experimentally tested a minimal effort, low cost, and easy-to-use online knowledge sharing intervention that organizations can administer to facilitate knowledge sharing. Unlock the knowledge potential of your workforce now!
