"Unpacking" the standards means breaking down the State Standard into the knowledge and skills students need in order to fully meet the standard. Howdoyouunpackthestandards? Step1:Identifythestandardyouareworkingwithfromthestatedocument.

Step5:Alignclassroominstructionandlearningopportunitieswiththeknowledgeandskillsfoundwithinthe standard.Providestudentswithopportunitiestonotonlylearntheknowledgeandskillsatabasiclevel,but applyandusetheknowledgeandskillsinauthenticsituations.Onlythencanyoubeassuredthatstudents havemasteredthefullstandardasseeninthestatedocument.
