Rfid Draft

This document discusses an RFID-based object and location identification tool. The objective is to use RFID readers embedded in the environment and RFID tags carried by users to track user locations in real-time. It describes the basic components of an RFID system including tags, antennas, interrogators, and host computers. It explains how RFID works via radio signals from a reader powering a tag to transmit its unique ID back to the reader and host computer. The document outlines considerations for designing an RFID system including operating frequency, signal propagation, interference handling, and tag/reader antenna design.

RFID Based Object and Location

Identification Tool

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

To understand the working of RFID system.
To read and write data to the tags.
To distinguish between multiple tags when simultaneously
present in the field.
The RFID readers can be embedded into the environment
and the RFID tags carried by each user inform the system
of the current location of that user.

What is RFID?
R adio F requency Identification
Id
The only truly automatic AIDC technology
Provides non-contact, non-line-of-sight operation
Can be read-only, WORM (write once, read
many) or read/write
Very difficult to counterfeit
Capable of working in harsh environments
Highly capable and proven technology for a wide
range of applications

RFID Programmer SM2005-B5

Main Components of the Project

This microcontroller ARM LPC.
RFID Readers and Tags.
The ChipModule has nine general purpose IO pins and
about 4KB of flash memory that can be filled with custom
built code.
The custom code was written using PSOC Designer.
Loading code is done through RS232C serial interface.
