Substitute Teacher
To qualify for a license to substitute a person must:
Be a citizen of the U.S. or a permanent resident
Have a minimum of sixty semester credits or an associates degree
or higher from an accredited college or university
Reading Specialist
To receive an endorsement to teach reading a person must:
Hold a bachelors degree
Hold a valid elementary, middle school or junior high, secondary or
special teching license, excluding Business and Industry
Have a least 16 semester credits in ready that include the following
areas:
Foundations of Reading
Elementary Methods and Materials
Secondary Methods and Materials
Diagnosis of reading disabilities
A practicum in reading remediation
Art Specialist
To receive an endorsement to teach art a person must:
Complete the following test
Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators
Principles of Learning and Teaching K-6 or 7-12
Praxis Content Area Test
Music Specialist
Complete the following test
Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators
Principles of Learning and Teaching K-6 or 7-12
Praxis Content Area Test
School Counselor
To receive endorsement as a school counselor a person must:
Complete the following test

Praxis Content Area Test
School Psychologist
To receive an endorsement as a school psychologist a person must:
Complete 3semester credits in a course of study regarding parental
involvement and family engagement
Hold certificate as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist issued
by the National School Psychology Certification System of the
National Association of School Psychologists
Hold a graduate degree with preparation in school psychology and
Have 60 semester credits from the required areas
Have completed practicum and a minimum of 1000 hour internship in
school psychology
School Administrator
To receive endorsement as an administrator of a school a person
must:
Hold a valid middle school/junior high, secondary or special teaching
license
Hold a masters degree
Have completed 3 years of teaching experience in accredited K-12
schools
Have completed at least 24 semester hours of graduate courses in
the administration of a school
