Curricular Innovations Advantages (Merit) Disadvantages (Demerit) My Insights

The document discusses two curricular innovations: the Rural-Based Environmental Curriculum (RBEC) and the Alternative Learning System (ALS). The RBEC takes a holistic approach to education and promotes cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills development. However, it allowed teachers unions too much control. The ALS provides alternative education opportunities for those who cannot afford formal schooling. While it opens access to knowledge, ALS graduates face difficulties getting jobs as their education is sometimes disregarded. More support is needed to maximize the potential of the ALS program.

My Tools

Interview school officials, faculty members or read education journals and

magazines to complete the matrix
Curricular
Innovations
RBEC

Advantages
(Merit)
-Outline the easiest
possible paths for
creating a severely
under-educated
student as to follow
the current trend.
-The curriculum is
treated in a holistic
manner
-The process
involve are
interactive and
collaborative

Disadvantages
(demerit)
-Allowed the
teachers union to
have control the
education.
-Mostly teacher
centered

My insights
I wasnt really aware
of the full
background of the
RBEC, the only
knowledge I know
about is based on
the readings that I
have but I can say
that it is a pretty
good curriculum
because it still
focused on the basic
yet most importance
things that students
should learn. It
promotes not only
cognitive factors but
as well as
psychomotor and
affective skills

Alternative
Learning System

-Provides a
viable
alternative to the
existing formal
education
instruction,
encompassing
both the nonformal and
informal sources
of knowledge
and skills.
-provide
opportunity to
those who cant
afford formal
education.

-Not all courses

are offered to
ALS graduates.

ALS is a good
opportunity for
our less fortunate
people the only
-graduate of this problem is that
program are
our society is not
having hard time that open for the
applying for a
graduates of this
decent job due
program worst is
to some people
that some people
look down with
wasnt even
this kind of
aware that this
education.
kind of program
does exist. ALS
programs need
more attention
and budget to
fully maximize its
vision.
