Filling Pls Tables For Plds Liquid Configuration: Presenter: - V. Durga Rao

The document discusses filling tables for PLS (Pipeline Simulation Software) for PLDS (Pipeline Liquid Data System). It describes an A-B pipeline network with one supply and two deliveries of LNG. It provides details on the fluid properties, instruments, pipe parameters, and process of installing the software and converting files. Key steps include providing scada names, selecting instrument types, filling alarm limits, and converting files using the PLDSConvertor tool.

FILLING PLS TABLES FOR PLDS

LIQUID CONFIGURATION

PRESENTER: - V. DURGA RAO

Considered an A-B pipeline of LNG with 1-Supply and 2-Deliveries

Fluid: LNG (50% Propane & 50% N-Butane)

Supply Flow Rate: 200 m3/hr
Minimum Pressure at Delivery-1: 12 kg/cm2g
Flow Rate at Delivery-2: 75 m3/hr

To select or change units, click on the Psibar button showing at the top
(just below the report button). A popup with unit options will open and
select/change the units as per user requirement. If we change the unit, the
previous value also will convert to updated/changed units. Please notice
this before & after changing units.

It is the above described network consists of one-supply and twodeliveries with temperature and pressure instruments.

Click on the PLS_PLDS.reg for 32 bit and, PLS_PLDS_64bit.reg for 64 bit. It

will directly install and will show an option like PLDS liquid, if we click on
table icon

After installing the PLS_PLDS.reg for 32 bit and, PLS_PLDS_64bit.reg for 64

bit we can check here, whether the registry is running or not

Click on the table icon, it will give a bar showing PLDS LIQUID. Once we
click on the PLDS Liquid a bar with set of options will open, it contains the
required data tobe filled.

PLDS Liquid/instrument- scada interface:

Appropriate scada names should be given manually. Once we know

the field mounted scada names will give those names, otherwise we
follow our general tag names as mentioned in this network.

A particular scada instrument can be included or excluded based on

operational requirement.

PLDS Liquid/instrument- defaults and ranges:

All values fill by PLS itself and in Phystype we have Pressure,

Temperature, Flow Rate (volume basis and mass basis), scrapper,
density, ground temperature and few other. We have to manually
select the instrument type we provided.

PLDS Liquid/instruments/error calculations:

Error values should be given only to pressure instrument i.e., -1, 0,

& 0.0015

PLDS Liquid/instruments/sensor type:

Here we give Phystype and no scrapper has been launched so

scrapper data need not tobe provided it means just give
NOT_APPLICABLE.

PLDS Liquid/pipes/fixed pipeline data:

Here Elevation and First milepost are to be provided manually

PLDS Liquid/pipes/ETA:

Here Elevation and First milepost are to be provided manually

PLDS Liquid/pipes/Alarm pressure limits:

All values fill by PLS itself and in HI-HI Pressure limit for alarm we
provide manually.

PLDS Liquid/pipes/DRA:

If we are providing any DRA, DRA Degradation per mile value to be

provided.

PLDS Liquid/pipes/tuning coefficients:

All these values are taken by PLS itself

PLDS Liquid/supply/flow meter info:

Only scada name should be provided and remaining values are taken by
PLS itself

PLDS Liquid/supply/injection properties:

Only scada name should be provided and remaining values are taken by
PLS itself

PLDS Liquid/delivery/flow meter info:

Only scada name should be provided and remaining values are taken by
PLS itself

PLDS Liquid/block valve/scada interface:

Only scada name should be provided

PLDS Liquid/block valve/sensor ranges:

These sensor range values are predefined valued, will be taken by PLS
automatically.

Click on PLDSConvertor.exe a configuration selector popup will open.

Have to select project name and click on the advance button, a popup
with registration settings will open. Here upload the .xml file and .xls file
and select the output path for .kwd files and click on the accept button.
Registration settings popup will get close and click on the convert button
of configuration selector. Open the output path provided and check the
files are converted or not. If it shows any error, clear the error and follow
the same procedure.

Difference between S.I units and M.K.S units?

The

SI

system

of

units

is

built

upon

the

MKS

system

of

units.

The MKS system of units expresses any measurement of physical quantities using
fundamental units of Length, Mass and Time, which are Metre, Kilogram and second
respectively.
The SI system of units extends the MKS system, by expressing any measurement of
physical quantities using fundamental units of Length, Mass, Time, Electric Current,
Thermodynamic Temperature, Amount of substance and Luminous Intensity, which are
Metre, Kilogram, Second, Ampere, Kelvin, Mole and Candela respectively.
M.K.S = 4 base units
S.I = 7 base units
