1) The document contains homework questions about AC and DC machines. It includes questions about a DC shunt motor's specifications and calculations related to torque, flux, losses and efficiency. 2) Another question involves calculations for the line current and speed of a series motor given its flux, torque, voltage and resistance. 3) A third DC motor question involves calculating the speed when developing half the original torque. 4) The document also contains induction motor questions about rotational speeds given slip and frequency, as well as questions calculating poles and slots. 5) A final synchronous motor question involves determining the generated EMF given current, power factor, resistance and reactance.

Its resistance is 0.1 . Assuming a drop of 1 volt per brush, find a)total torque b)useful torque c)useful flux/pole d)rotational losses and e)efficiency. Ques 2:A 4-pole series motor has 944 wave -connected armature conductors. At a certain load, the flux per pole is 34.6 mWb and the total mechanical torque developed is 209 N-m.Calculate the line current taken by the motor and the speed at which it will run with an applied voltage of 500 V.Total motor resistance is 3 . Ques 3:A 220 volt d.c.series motor is running at a speed of 800 r.p.m and draws 100 A.Calculate at what speed the motor will run when developing half the torque.Total resistance of the armature and field is 0.1 .Assume that the magnetic circuit is unsaturated. Part B
Ques1:A 4-pole,3- phase induction motor operates from a supply whose frequency is 50 Hz.Calculate :a)the speed at which the magnetic field of the stator is rotating.b)the speed of the rotor when the slip is 0.04.c)the frequency of the rotor currents when the slip is 0.03.d)the frequency of the rotor currents at standstill. Ques 2:The stator of a 3-phase induction motor has 3 slots per pole per phase. If supply frequency is 50 Hz,calculate a)no.of stator poles produced and total no.of slots on the stator.c)speed of the rotating stator flux(or magnetic field). Ques 3:A 2300 V,3-phase,star-connected synchronous motor has a resistance of 0.2 per phase and a synchronous reactance of 2.2 per phase. The motor is operating at
