COURSE DESCRIPTION
An intiouuction to the use of text, giaphics, uigital photogiaphy anu viueo, anu auuio
(incluuing voices, ambient sounu, anu music) foi telling compelling multimeuia stoiies.

The couise focuses on using cuiient technology to tell factual, newswoithy stoiies
ueliveiable via the Woiluwiue Web. The skills leaineu aie applicable in business,
auveitising, public ielations, anu euucation to name but a few.

COURSE STRUCTURE
The couise will take you sequentially thiough a cumulative set of skills anu piinciples,
incluuing 1) the basics of stoiytelling, 2) iecoiuing anu euiting auuio, S) shooting still
photos, 4) combining auuio anu photos into auuio sliueshows, S) shooting anu euiting
viueo, anu 6) telling stoiies with timelines, maps, anu infogiaphics.
METHODS
While some lectuie is essential, the couise will be laigely taught thiough uemonstiation,
followeu by stuuent piactice of uemonstiateu skill. Stuuents will then apply the skills
leaineu in completing piojects.

softwaie), those aie 1) a goou-quality uigital cameia capable of shooting BB viueo, 2) a
goou-quality uigital auuio iecoiuei, S) a pio-sumei giaue uigital camcoiuei anu exteinal
miciophone. A smaitphone is anothei invaluable tool. In limiteu situations, it can substitute
foi the cameia anu camcoiuei.
LAB RULES
A few iules will help us make efficient use of oui time anu avoiu acciuents that might
uamage the expensive equipment we will be using.
