PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (P.D.P.

) ON SCIENCE COMMUNICATION THROUGH MASS MEDIA


The Department of Mass Communication & Journalism of Tezpur University is going to organize two short-term Professional Development Programmes on Science Communication Through Mass Media from October 1-6 and December 10-15, 2012 aimed at persons interested in science communication through mass media teachers in colleges / universities, research institutions, students of PG and Ph D in any discipline, freelancers with an interest in this field. Interested persons should apply in plain paper in the proforma given below.

Registration / participation fees ;


Rs 500.00 (Rs 200 for students). This fess is non refundable. Local hospitality including breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea and snacks shall be provided by the organizers.

Accommodation :
Accommodation shall be arranged on prior information on twin sharing basis to be paid by the participants on their own on a subsidized basis.

Important dates :
Last date for submission of application for the courses August 31 , 2012 for the first workshop, November 10 for the second workshop, Confirmation of selection for the course September 5 , 2012 for the first workshop, - November 15 for the second programme. Confirmation from selected participants at least seven days prior to the workshop, Reporting at venue of workshop by selected participants afternoon / evening of the day prior to the starting date of the workshop for outstation participants, Departure from TU campus - evening of the concluding day of the workshops or next day,

Important points to be noted by intending applicants


i) Application in plain paper in prescribed form attached herewith has to be sent with endorsement from the Principal / Registrar respectively for college or university teachers and for others the head of the organization / institution where the applicant is serving at present. For students, it must be through the Head of the Department / Dean concerned of the school or faculty, Principal of the college. Two copies of colour passport-sized photograph must be sent with the application. One photograph must be pasted on the right side of the application form. ii) Applications must be accompanied by a Demand Draft for the fees mentioned above (as the case may be) in the name of Registrar, Tezpur University, payable at SBI TU branch (Code 14259). No other forms of payment would be accepted.

iii) Filled in application form must be sent by speedpost to the Course Coordinator supserscribing the envelope as Application for Professional Development Programme in Science communication workshop, date ., 2012. The same must also be sent as an e mail attachment in the address provided thereof. It should also be accompanied by a set self-attested certificates of the persons educational qualifications from HSLC to Masters degree, write ups / productions on science communication, if any. iv) Seats for both the courses are limited and would be allotted on first-come-first-served basis and thus it is advised that intending participants should apply at the earliest. v) Applications in prescribed form should reach the department in this address preferably through speedpost --Dr Abhijit Bora, Course Coordinator Science Communication, Associate Professor & Head, Dept. of Mass Communication & Journalism, Tezpur University, Napaam, Tezpur 784028 (Assam), (E mail abijitbora71@rediffmail.com Cell no 09864072390)
