LATE STARTER RECORDERS
Monday 6 - Thursday 9 January 2014 Tutor: Evelyn Nallen
Many of us learn the recorder at primary school but then promptly forget about it. If you are one of those people and find yourself yearning to take it up again and develop your skills beyond the most basic, then this new course is for you. Evelyn Nallen will gently guide participants and work on technical and musical matters. With the mutually supportive atmosphere that we like to foster at Benslow Music, by the end of the course you will surely have the impetus to keep working at it . Please note that you must bring your own instrument(s) and know the essentials of how to read music. This course is not for absolute beginners.

Friday 11 - Sunday 13 July 2014 Tutor: Kia Bennett
A new course led by new tutor Kia Bennett and designed to provide practical help and inspiration for those who have only relatively recently taken up or perhaps resumed after the rude interruption of career or family - playing the flute. In this masterclass format course everyone in the same room at once - Kia will home in on those small things that make large differences and will work on boosting your confidence and determination to continue, at whatever stage of life you find yourself. Shell also take care to make sure that you are enjoying the experience, as all of our tutors do.

EARLY STAGES PIANO FOR ADULTS


Tuesday 28 - Thursday 30 January 2014 Tutor: R achael Buxton
A brand new course, designed to help late starter adult pianists of roughly Grades 1 to 3 level, whether or not examinations have been taken or are envisaged. Rachael Buxton advises on all technical and musical matters and suggest the best ways forward with understanding and sensitivity. The course will be taught on a class basis. Numbers are limited so please book early. We welcome participants of all ages but special safeguarding conditions apply to minors.

Designed for adult players of at least a confident Grade 3 standard, this course, tutored by the renowned pedagogue Sebastian Mller, assembles a group of violinists, viola players and cellists together as a string orchestra, with parts designed to be challenging to just the right degree. Please note that we cannot accept absolute beginners.

LATE STARTER VIOLINS
Sunday 13 - Wed 16 July 2014 Tutor: Sebastian Mller
Sebastian Mller leads a course designed to improve the confidence and technique of adult violinists of about Grade 1 or Grade 2 standards. We may also accept viola players at Sebastians discretion. Please note that this is not a course for absolute beginners.

We are happy to provide bed and breakfast facilities before and after your course or for nonmusical visits to the area. Ask us for availability and rates.

Bring a friend

We welcome non-participating friends and partners for all or part of your course or for a meal or two when circumstances allow. Please let us know well in advance, and we will advise you of our rates.

Travelling
Benslow Music campus is a five-minute walk from Hitchin train station, which is served by fast, frequent trains from Cambridge, Peterborough and London Kings Cross. Road access from the A1(M) and the M1 is swift, and we are within easy reach of Luton and Stansted airports. Call us if you need help in planning your journey.

Checking in
Unless otherwise specified courses begin with tea at 7pm and you can register and occupy your room from 4pm onwards. The course ends at 4pm on the last day.
