The document outlines a course on alternate fuels for internal combustion engines. The course has 4 units that cover different types of alternative fuels like ethanol, methanol, hydrogen, LPG, natural gas, and vegetable oils. Unit 1 discusses the availability and suitability of these fuels for piston engines. Unit 2 covers alcohol fuels, their properties, blends with gasoline, and performance in spark ignition engines. Unit 3 examines gaseous fuels like hydrogen, producer gas, biogas, LPG, and natural gas - their properties, production, storage, and use in spark and compression ignition engines. Unit 4 focuses on various vegetable oils as engine fuels, including their structure, esterification process, and performance characteristics when used in engines.
