Poem 1
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer 5
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake. 10
The only other sounds the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep, 15
And miles to go before I sleep.
by Robert Frost

Summary
In the first stanza
The speaker describes a time when he meandered over the valleys and hills, "lonely as
a cloud." Finally, he came across a crowd of daffodils stretching out over almost
everything he could see, "fluttering and dancing in the breeze":

In the second stanza
The speaker goes into more detail about the daffodils. They reminded him of the Milky
Way, because there were so many flowers packed together that they seemed to be
never ending. The speaker guesses that there were ten thousand daffodils, which were
"Tossing their heads in sprightly dance":

In the third stanza
The speaker compares the waves of the lake to the waves of daffodils and decides that
even though the lake is "sparkling," the daffodils win because they have more "glee." He
then comments that he, like any other poet, could not help but be happy "in such a
jocund company." He looked at the scene for a long time, but while he was there he was
unable to understand what he had gained from the experience:

In the fourth stanza
The final stanza, the poet describes what he gained from the experience. Afterwards,
when he was lonely or feeling "pensive," he could remember the daffodils, seeing them
with his "inward eye," and be content:

1.2 Poem 2
I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze........6

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance........12

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay
In such a jocund company:
I gazedand gazedbut little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:.....18

For oft when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude,
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.............24

By William Wordsworth

Summary
Stanza 1
While wandering like a cloud, the speaker happens upon daffodils fluttering in a breeze
on the shore of a lake, beneath trees. Daffodils are plants in the lily family with yellow
flowers and a crown shaped like a trumpet.
Stanza 2
The daffodils stretch all along the shore. Because there are so many of them, they
remind the speaker of the Milky Way, the galaxy that scientists say contains about one
trillion stars, including the sun. The speaker humanizes the daffodils when he says they
are engaging in a dance.
Stanza 3
In their gleeful fluttering and dancing, the daffodils outdo the rippling waves of the lake.
But the poet does not at this moment fully appreciate the happy sight before him. In the
last line of the stanza, Wordsworth uses anastrophe, writing the show to me had
brought instead of the show brought to me. Anastrophe is an inversion of the normal
word order.
Stanza 4
Not until the poet later muses about what he saw does he fully appreciate the cheerful
sight of the dancing daffodils. Worsworth again uses anastrophe, writing when on my
couch I lie and my heart with pleasure fills.

2.0 Essay

Based on the poem that I read, I choose to describe the poem that write by
William Wordswoth. The title of his poem is I wondered lonely as a cloud. This poem
contained a lot of meaning about nature. Nature around us is very beautiful and unique.
So this poetry used our nature to express his feeling about life in this world. The poem
contains four stanzas of six lines each. In each stanza, the first line rhymes with the
third and the second with the fourth. The stanza then ends with a rhyming couplet. The
poet unifies the content of the poem by focusing the first three stanzas on the
experience at the lake and the last stanza on the memory of that experience. So I am
attracted as his experience and memory was so beautiful and colourful.
I realized that most of this imagery is created by the many metaphors and similes
Wordsworth uses especially in first line of stanza 1.such as the simile; Comparison
(using as) of the speaker's solitariness to that of a cloud (line 1). As example I
wondered lonely as a cloud. Then Metaphor; Comparison of daffodils to dancing
humans (lines 4, 6). In addition the other literature that attract me is alliteration; high o'er
vales and Hills (line 2) and personification; Comparison of daffodils to a crowd of people
(lines 3-4). Lastly Alliteration: golden Daffodils (line 4). So it have many literature device
in this poem so the poem is unique for me.
Then this poem also contain positive messages such as we must appreciate our
nature. The nature gives us calm and peace. Thats way we need nature around us.
Now day human seem do not care about their nature and always destroyed the nature.
As example, human are destroying our jungle and river. This kind of activity will give
negative impact to our nature.

The second message that I notice is, we must help our nature from being
destroyed as the nature have a lot benefit to human race. It is because we can see that
nature provide us like food from vegetable and animal, water from the river and so on.
So nature actually help human in order to make human life more comfortable.
Then I can feel that actually the nature can give us calm and peace. It is because
the beauty of nature like flowers, water, animal and many more make our mind and soul
in peace. Furthermore it can also make our spirit more motivated as when we see
nature it will make our mind more relax. Meanwhile it will also refreshing our body after
we had a busy life with work and business.
