OBJECTIVES OF CERTIFICATION

1. To raise the professional standards and improve the practice of cost engineering by giving special
recognition by their peers to those who, in fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and
conduct, have demonstrated and maintained a high level of competence and ethical practices.
2. To identify for employers, clients, and the public, persons with broad knowledge of and capability
to professionally apply the principles of cost engineering.
3. To establish a continuing program whose goal is the improvement of individual cost engineering
skills and professional developments.
4. To clarify the body of knowledge and standards of conduct for the practice of cost engineering.

AREAS OF CERTIFICATION SPECIALIZATION

Those applicants that pass the certification examination will be certified as Certified Cost Professional
encompassing specialties in cost estimating, cost control, business planning and management science,
profitability analysis, project management, and planning and scheduling.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT

The AACE International certification program has been designed to provide industry the certified
personnel perform as cost engineers, estimators, planners & schedulers, and improve the practice of cost
engineering by giving special recognition by their peers to those who, in fulfilling prescribed standards of
performance and conduct, have demonstrated and maintained a high level of competence.
The AACE International requirements to become a Certified Cost Professional are:
Fulfillment of background qualifications (8 years of relevant experience in the profession, of
which up to 4 years may be substituted by a 4-year degree in a related discipline from a
recognized University).

Passing the written examination.


Approval of a written technical paper.
