Funding & Disbursement Request Guide


The Basics: Eligibility and Restrictions

Organization members must be UConn Fee Paying Undergraduates only.


o Mixed organizations must have a majority.
Funding Policy Mastery Test must be passed with all questions correct.
Tier II Organizations only.
o Must have existed since the prior semester
Maximum of $12,000 per semester per organization.
Organizations must attend all scheduled meetings.
Absolutely NO funding for the following:
o Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, etc.
o Course Credit
o Direct Charitable Donations
o Office Supplies
o Explosives/Ammunition
o Compensation to Attendees
o Publication Subscriptions
o Activities outside Spring/Fall Semesters.
o Travel outside US and Canada.
o Catering for off-campus events.
o Giveaways.
o Career Development
o Events predominantly of a social nature.
o Additional compensation to parties already contracted and funded.
o Conflict with Federal, State, or UConn Law/Policy. (Direct or Possible)
o Not the responsibility of USG.

Requests Categories
Categor Classification

Advertised to ALL undergraduate students

Requests with the following stipulations:


University property OR close to campus
No travel support or overnight accommodations
Advertised to ALL undergraduate students
Requests with the following limitations
Off campus due to lack of on-campus facilities
All Coaching
Requests for the purchase of equipment or supplies
Requests with the following stipulations:
University property OR close to campus
No travel support or overnight accommodations

NOT open to all undergraduate students

Requests with the following stipulations:


Requires travel or overnight accommodations
Explicit participation in the following: competition, presentation,
performance, or service activity
Requests with the following stipulations:
Requires travel or overnight accommodations
Lacks explicit participation in the following: competition, presentation,
performance, or service activity
Requests with the following stipulations:
Requires travel or overnight accommodations
Occurs during Spring Break
Involves participation in a service activity

Semesterly Request Restrictions

Catering/Food
o Use UConn Dining Services Student Organization Menu ONLY
Exception: the requested item is not available
Use an outside caterer funded at a maximum of the most
comparable item from UConn Dining Services
Funded for a maximum of 50 participants
Exception: Evidence shows a comparable request was attended
by a larger number of undergraduate participants in the past
four semesters
Non-undergraduate participants are subject to paying the per-person
plate fee.
Coaching
o Requests are funded at a maximum of $4000
Entertainment Services (not integral to the event completion)
o Requests are funded at a maximum of $75 per hour
Category D, E, and F Requests have the following restrictions:
o Requests are prorated for a maximum of 8 participants
Exception: Justification is provided that the activity requires a greater
number
o Air travel is funded at a maximum of $350 per ticket roundtrip
o Ground travel requests are funded at a maximum of 500 miles
Mileage reimbursement requests shall be funded at $0.56 per mile
Bus or train travel over 500 miles shall be prorated for 500 miles
o Lodging is funded at a maximum of $150 per night
Minimum of 4 participants per room
Capital Request Restrictions are as follows:
o Requests are essential for the function of the organization
o Requests for replacement equipment or supplies are only funded if the
previous inventory outlived its expected lifespan

Allocation Procedures/Policies

Only complete requests are allocated funds

Capital requests
o Less than $1000 allocated by the funding board and approved by the
senate
o More than $1000 presented to the senate individually
Category A, B, C, D, and E requests are allocated form Unrestricted Account
Category F requests are allocated from the Protected Account
The percentages of allocated funds are as follows:
