ACSR Conductor Regulation Calculation

(i) The document details the calculation of voltage regulation for a 38km transmission line between Nivali Substation and JSW feeding point in Ratnagiri, India. (ii) The transmission line has a supply voltage of 33kV, supplies a load of 20.43MVA using a 100mm2 ACSR conductor. (iii) The calculation finds the voltage regulation to be 3.88%, within the acceptable limit of 12%, and notes assumptions made around diversity factor and resistance values from conductor specifications.

PROJECT

: LAVGAN SHIP REPAIR YARD , DIST. RATNAGIRI

CLIENT : JAIGAD PORTS INFRASTRUCTURE PVT. LTD
TITLE : CALCULATION FOR ACSR CONDUCTOR VOLTAGE REGULATION
Date : 25082011
PROJECT TECHNICAL DETAILS :
(i) Supply Point = Nivali Substation
(ii) Feeding point = JSW
(iii) Supply Voltage = 33KV
(iv) Load = 20.43 MVA
(v) Current = 445 Amps
(vi) Conductor Size = 100 Sqmm (Dog Condcutor)
(vii) Transmission line Distance Between Nivali to JSW = 38 KM
(viii) Power Factor (Cos = Unity ( 1 )

ASSUMPTION :
(i) Diversity Factor = 1.5
(ii) Resistance = 0.2792 (As per attached ACSR Conductor Catalogue)
CALCULATION :
Voltage Regulation
(Vr)

% Voltage
Regulation (Vr)

(Length X Power) / [(IRCos + IXSin)*Deration Factor]

( 19 * 20.43 + 11 * 12.28 + 8 * 7.28 ) / (357.44 * 0.2792 * 1 * 1.5 )

3.88

Note:
(i) Volatge regulation should be less than 12%,
(ii) Deration factor considered for Transmission Line & Conductor
(iii) In Calculation we have not considered reactance, because in transmission line the reactance va

lue is negligible.
