Over the next 24 h, it is forecast to continue moving

west, intensifying significantly and it may make
landfall in Aurora province in the evening of 17
October, as an intense Typhoon (Category 3-4,
with max. sustained winds of 200-215 km/h). It will
subsequently cross northern Luzon (Cagayan Valley,
CAR and Ilocos Regions), slightly weakening, and it
may exit into the Strait of Luzon or South China Sea
on 20 October, weakened into a Tropical Storm.
Heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge
may affect several areas of Luzon. JRC calculations
indicate a storm surge of the order of 0.7 m in the
coastal areas near Casiguran (Aurora Province) early
on 18 October. Moreover the heavy rains may trigger
flash floods and landslides.
As of 16 October early morning (UTC), PAGASA,
Public Storm Warning Signals #2 and #1 are in
effect for several areas of Luzon.
