In order to purchase this software you will need an ANSYS account. Register for a student account here1.

You will then be asked to select your professor from a drop down list. Do so and click Next.

Create a password that is at least 8 characters long.

With the username and password you created log into the student portal.

Click the ANSYS Academic Student Product item.

Before downloading ANSYS, make sure you buy a license through the Buy Now so that way you can
activate and use it. After you have purchased a license you can click on Download to select a version
to download.

Select the current version and click Download.

ANSYS provides the following steps to install their product:


Part 1 - ANSYS Academic Student Product Installation:
1. Extract downloaded installation files.
2. Run setup.exe from extracted files. For a Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows 8 machine, rightclick on setup.exe and select Run as Administrator.
3. Click the Install ANSYS, Inc. Products button.
4. Accept defaults, clicking Next button to proceed through the installation.
5. After the installation comes to an end click Next and the Release 16.0 Licensing Client
Installation Configuration will open in a new window.
6. Specify the License Server Machine window opens that will ask for the hostname of the
license server. You enter the hostname of your computer.
7. Click OK. You will return to the Installation window and need to click Exit.
8. The ANSYS Academic Student Product is now installed.
9. You can proceed to install the ANSYS License Manager if you do not close the ANSYS, Inc.
Installation Manager window. If you proceed with the license manager installation, you can
skip steps 2 and 3 below.

10. Should you happen to close the ANSYS, Inc. Installation Manager window, please follow all
steps below.

Part 2 - ANSYS License Manager Installation:


1. Save the license file you receive by email to your desktop.
2. Run setupLM.exe from the extracted installation files. For a Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows
8 machine, right-click on setupLM.exe and select Run as Administrator.
3. Click the Continue button.
4. Click OK when the warning appears regarding License Manager Shutdown.
5. Keep the default entries and click Next through the install.
6. At the end click 'Exit' and the ANSYS License Management Center will open.
7. You will then click 'Add a License File'
8. Browse to your license file saved on the desktop.
9. Click 'Install License File' when prompted.
10. The license file will be installed and the license manager will be started.
11. You can exit out of the ANSYS License Management Center.
