Course overview

MATLAB is an interactive mathematical, scientific and engineering software


package. Originally it was designed for solving linear algebra problems using
matrices, but now it has been expanded with built-in functions for a lot of
diversified applications such as programming, data and statistical analysis, signal
processing, optimization, modelling and simulation, as well as other complex
scientific computations. It also contains functions for 2-D and 3-D graphics and
animation.
The primary developer is Professor Cleve Moler of the University of New Mexico.
The name MATLAB is derived from MATrix LABoratory.
Learning outcomes
An aggressively gentle introduction of MATLAB programming language will be
given, with problem-based MATLAB examples to make your learning fast and
effective.
