Years of Hijrat
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) went to Madina. When he went there he built a masjid now known as
Masjid Al-Nabwi. Negotiated with other religions such as Jews so they could protect each other.
Second year of Hijrat:
Fasting in the month of Ramadan was made mandatory. Many people were advised to pray, but
then Allah commanded that whilst praying, you should be facing towards the direction of the
Kaabah.
Third year of Hijrat:
Battle of Uhud had taken place. Zakat was made mandatory for every year.
Fourth year of Hijrat:
In the fourth year of Hijrat, the consummation and use of alcohol or wine was prohibited by
Islam. Strict punishments were put in place for people who didnt abide.
Fifth year of Hijrat:
Women were told to wear Hijabs. Battles of Khandaq and Khabar took place.
Sixth year of Hijrat:
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) was going to Makkah but then the Quraish had stopped him in his
tracks. New rules were implemented regarding the Quraish.
Seventh year of Hijrat:
Battle of Ditch had taken place in this year. Matters were settled with an exchange of polite
responses.
Eighth year of Hijrat:
Battle of Mutah took place. Khuza tribe joined the Muslims. The destruction of 360 idols which
were placed in the Kaabah was instructed by the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Makkah opened up a
new era of Islam.
Ninth year of Hijrat:
Middle East faced a big challenge because the Roman army had organized a large army. Many
people didnt help out using various and numerous excuses. Only three were forgiven because
they had admitted that they were mistaken.
Tenth year of Hijrat:
Numerous tribes joined Allahs fate. The most important of these is the Hajjat Ul-Wida which
was the final pilgrimage and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made his speech saying that he had
told and conveyed his message to others saying how to follow Islam.
Eleventh year of Hijrat:
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had passed away at the age of 63. The cause of death was illness
which was caused by old age. He passed away on the 12th Rabi-ul-Awal.
