Here are my conclusions based on the passage: - Ranier was walking home from school when it started raining. - The rain caused mud to form on the ground. - The mud rose from Ranier's shoes and eventually covered his ankles. - It seems the rain was heavy enough to turn the ground very muddy. The rising mud suggests the rain was not letting up and the ground was becoming increasingly saturated. - Ranier may have found it difficult to walk through the deep mud and his shoes and clothes would be dirty. - The heavy rain and mud could make the walk home challenging for Ranier.
