WiFi is one of the most important wireless technolgy to date.

This
technology is used in many of todays modern technology such as
phones, computers, and many other media devices. Wi-Fi is one
technology that is bringing the world closer together. Wifi making
accessing information easier from where ever you have a wireless
connection. No longer needed is a wired connection to a router or
modem. Wi-Fi allows for instant access to the Internet as well at what
ever is connected to the network.

WiFi uses radio waves to transfer data from one point to another or to
many other points. WiFi allows connection without the need of cables
to all devices. Most homes and buinesses use WiFi to allow for
connection between devices and the Internet. WiFi transmits signals
over short distances. A wireless network will transmit at a frequency
level of 2.4 GHz or 5GHz to adapt to the amount of data that is being
sent by the user. The 802.11 networking standards will somewhat vary
depending mostly on the user's need. This makes is ideal for homes
and businesses allowing access to all devices giving each user their
own freedom.

In this picture we see how your basic WiFi network is set up. A modem
is set up to connect to the Internet. With todays technology most
routers provided by the ISP have built in modems. Depending on your
device used to connect to the Internet the wireless access point in next
in the network. The wireless access point connects to all the devices
looking for the Internet. In this picture we see man devices set up such
as phones printer servers and desktops. As technology grows so do the
home networks of many of todays people.
