Siebel Developer (Job Description)

The role is of Siebel developer on OneSiebel, a Siebel CRM platform shared across
multiple lines of business. The OneSiebel platform features order, fault/complaint,
sales and marketing functionalities for global corporate customers and UK-based
Communications Providers. The platform covers an internal, portal and B2B channel.
Design complex CRM applications using the Siebel suite of products to manage,
synchronize and coordinate customer interactions.

The candidate is expected to have 4 years minimum Siebel expertise in Siebel


development on large Siebel implementations, ideally in a Telecom environment,
using Siebel 7.8/8.1 capabilities (exposure to Siebel design would be desirable).

Skill Set:
1. Completes own role independently or with minimal supervision/guidance.
2. Working knowledge in Siebel Order Management Framework.
3. Good knowledge in EAI and troubleshooting Interface issues
4. Strong Experience with designing and developing following Siebel areas:
workflows, eScript, business services and creating/modifying integration
objects, Integration techniques (EIM, EAI, workflows, Web Services, more
generally xml interfaces, etc) / product modelling (including modelling of
complex products) / Siebel visibility model
5. Good exposure to Standard Interactivity Siebel applications (Portal
applications).
6. Familiarity with Siebel Pricing Engine.
7. A good understanding of the Siebel out of the box capabilities and processes:
at least 2 year practical experience of Siebel order and/or fault management
processes
8. Strong Siebel configuration knowledge including joins, links, multi value links
etc is a must
9. Should also have worked on one or more Siebel provided transport adapters
like EAI Http Adapter, EAIMQ Transport, EAI MSMQ Transport, EAI JMS
Transport, EAI File Transport etc.
10.Siebel Integration using Inbound and Outbound Web Services, testing WSDL"s
using SOAP UI, Integration Objects, Data Mappers, Integration Data Mappers
10. Experience in Siebel 8.1 is an added advantage.
11.Understands Siebel best practices
12.Fluent in producing, understanding and manipulating SQL statements related
to the Siebel data model to ensure they are best tuned to produce the best
response times.
13.Shares own expertise with others and Provide guidance/support to others.
14.Identifies solutions to non-standard tasks/queries and manages own time to
meet agreed targets.
15.Identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data / requirements
and can take a broad perspective to problems and spot new, less obvious
solutions.
16.Develops plans for specific work activities in own area over the short-term,
which may include forecasting resource requirements.
17.Excellent communication skills: Adapts information/style to the audience,
explaining difficult issues clearly, to establish consensus and gain agreement.
18.Experience in OpenUI or knowledge of OpenUI would be an added advantage
Key Accountabilities:

1. Technical/implementation design for team eg frameworks


2. Lead team of software engineers to meet solution against cost, quality and
time
3. Could be a recognised specialist, Subject matter Expert
4. Development of code against engineering standards and quality measures
5. Deliver reusable and maintainable software

Key Activities:

1. Produce low level designs and implement software, including test and build
automation
2. Test driven development ie outcome focussed development
3. Estimation of their work
4. Coordination of s/w engineers, including removing blockers to permit
development to progress
5. Operational artefacts production and handover to support
6. Code reviews and walk throughs
