Helena eschews sheer destructive power to favour more elegant weaponry - a penchant the artificers
of the Adepta Sororitas are always eager to please.
Vengeances Ire : Heartseekers hits are always Precision Shots, but Look Out, Sir against

Special Rules
Shield of Faith : The galaxy abounds with blasts and blades that will cut through your flesh and your
armour as easy as if it were air ; Against those, there will be but one thing you can call upon to
protect you, and it is the Emperor.
Models with Shield of Faith ( X+ ) gain an X+ invulnerable save ; If not specified, Shield of Faith means
Shield of Faith ( 6+ ).
Additionally, they gain Adamantium Will, and units from this codex may cover friendly models with
this rule when firing their Template weapons ( And the Fury Act of Faith ) ; They do not hit them.
Act of Faith : It is one thing to dedicate your life to the Emperor, to toil in His factories or pray in His
temples, but it is another to be ready for the moment of truth, the one instant when He will call upon
you and rely upon you to rise and serve Him .
Some units are noted as having the Act of Faith special rule in their entry. Different units have
different Acts of Faith, each of which is named in the units entry along with its specific rules, but all
Acts of Faith use the rules listed here.
A unit with the Act of Faith special rule will have several named Acts of Faith named in its entry ; It
must choose one of them to be fielded with, and that choice is part of your army list. Some are free,
but others have a cost associated to them, in which case it is added to the units cost when chosen.
A unit with the Act of Faith special rule can attempt to use its chosen Act of Faith at the time
specified in the specific Act of Faiths entry. To do so, the unit must take a Leadership test.
If the test is failed, nothing happens and that unit cannot attempt to use that Act of Faith again for
the rest of the battle. If the test is passed, the Act of Faith is successful and the effects listed in its
entry take immediate effect.
Unless stated otherwise, only models in the unit with the Act of FAith special rule will gain its effects,
which can include Independent Characters. Note that models gain the effects of Acts of Faith on an
individual basis, and at the moment the Act of Faith is used ; Independent Characters dying or
joining/leaving units will not affect who is or isnt affected.
Unless stated otherwise, a unit can only attempt to use the same Act of Faith once per game and a
unit cannot attempt to use more than one Act of Faith in the same phase.
Example : A Canoness joins a Battle Choir, and decides to use her Act of Faith ; It is successful. The
Battle Choir immediately gains the effects of the Act of Faith, because despite having no Act of Faith
they can use themselves, they do have the Act of Faith special rule. Even if the Canoness is killed, the
Battle Choir will retain the effects of her Act of Faith until they expire, because they were part of her
unit when it was used.
Martyrdom : The Sisters of Battle do not give in to despair when their leaders are slain. Instead, the
blood of these martyred heroes only strengthens their resolve, the sacrifice inspiring them to great
acts of heroism.
If a model with the Martyrdom special rule is removed as a casualty during the battle, all friendly
units wholly comprised of models with the Act of Faith special rule automatically pass all Leadership
tests until the end of your next turn.
Elohiem : A sister is always ready, she has been her whole life. But until the fateful day the Emperor
has had her shed her blood or that of His enemies in His name, she is not an Elohiem.
All models with this rule gain the Stubborn special rule ; The WS of models with this rule except for
Sister-Superiors becomes 3+ ; A Sister-Superior with this rule has Leadership 9.
Order Vows :
Order of the Bloody Rose - Thorns : Models with the Order of the Bloody Rose keyword may attack
in melee when they are killed in combat.
Order of Our Martyred Lady - Vengeance : When a unit with the Order of Our Martyred Lady
keyword is destroyed, mark the unit that inflicted the last wound ; All units with the Order of Our
Martyred Lady reroll to-hit rolls of 1 against it.
Order of the Valorous Heart - Martyrdom : One unit Order of the Valorous Heart keyword may elect
to gain Martyrdom at the beginning of each enemy turn, unless 2 living friendly units already have
Martyrdom. A unit with Martyrdom allows all units attacking it to reroll to-hit rolls of 1 and may not
claim any Cover modifier, but itself re-rolls all to-hit rolls of 1 or 2.
Order of the Sacred Rose - Serenity : Units with the Order of the Sacred Rose keyword have a +2
modifier when they take any form of Leadership test.
Order of the Ebon Chalice - Loyalty :
Order of the Argent Shroud - Silence : Units with the Order of the Argent Shroud keyword count as
having the Sisterhood of Silence keyword.
Warlord Traits
1 - Unshakable Hope : Friendly units from this Codex within 12 of the Warlord do not take a morale
test for losing 25% of their models.
2 - Lead by Example : All friendly Characters from this Codex ( Except for Auxiliaries ) have the
Martyrdom special rule for as long as your Warlord is alive, but only their own unit benefit from its
effects ( Unless they already had the Martyrdom special rule ).
3 - Pure of Will : The Warlords unit re-rolls unsuccessful Deny the Witch rolls.
4 - Hour of Truth : Secretly note a turn number when this trait is rolled. During the entire
corresponding game turn, friendly Acts of Faith and War Hymns tests are automatically passed as
long as the Warlord is still alive.
5 - Beacon of Faith : All friendly models that are within 12" of the Warlord use the Warlords
Leadership value when taking Act of Faith or War Hymns Leadership tests, unless their own is higher.
Armoury
Weapons
Boltgun with attached Sarissa
Boltgun : Smaller than its Astartes counterpart, for good reason, as the Sisters would never be able to
effectively wield these oversized weapons, The Godwyn-DeAz Pattern Boltgun still fires the exact
same bolts ; This Bolter is only in use by the Adepta Sororitas, having stood against the test of time
thanks to its reliability and potency. A feature appreciated by the warriors of the Ecclesiarchy is the
ability to affix a Sarissa - a vicious, curved blade that can be used to piece or cut - to the weapon, a
trait most useful to the close-quarter tactics of the sisters.
Autogun : Though the Sisters of Battle use the bolter for reasons both symbolic and practical, other
orders of the Adepta Sororitas resort to more mundane weapons as the mighty boltgun is neither the
tool of their calling nor practical for use by non power-armoured humans.
Specialist Weapons
Storm Bolter : Essentially two bolters fused together, though they share a single feeding and trigger
mechanism, the storm bolter is a fearsome weapon that compacts devastating firepower in a
handheld and relatively light weapon.
Flamer : While the weapon surely has its merits and finds its way into many armies of the Imperium
and of its foes alike, the flamer also has an almost divine purpose in the hands of the Adepta Sororitas,
as the Emperors daughters like to dispense His fiery retribution to His foes, but also relish in their
suffering and the reduction of all they ever were to ashes.
Combi-flamer, -melta, -plasma or condemnor boltgun : The Sisters of Battle make use of combi-
weapons common to many others forces of the Imperium, but also of the more exclusive Condemnor
Boltgun. In essence, it uses a crossbow as a secondary weapon to the bolter ; A simple and archaic
weapon indeed, its silver stakes seeming harmless in the 41 st millennium, but the disruption sigils they
bear will render the connection of psykers to the Warp unstable, something more dangerous than
steel and fire.
A model armed with a combi-weapon can choose to fire either the main boltgun, or the secondary
weapon. You cannot fire both in the same turn. Each combi-weapon has only one secondary weapon.
The main and secondary weapons of a combi-weapon fire at the same time as all other similarly
named weapons in that unit. For example, the boltgun part of a combi-weapon fires at the same
time as all other boltguns in the unit.
Secondary Weapons :
Psi-shock : Any unit with the Pskyer, Brotherhood of Psykers or Psychic Pilot special rules that
is hit by a weapon with this special rule suffers the Perils of the Warp in addition to any other
damage.
Meltagun : Bearing the same meaning as flamers to the Sisters, though far less impressively, the
meltagun is however a formidable weapon in their hands, as they revel in short range engagements,
and will allow them to take down any target, no matter how thick its armour if not hull is.
Heavy Weapons
Multi-melta : Though a meltagun is a most fearsome weapon, it however lacks in range, something
the multi-melta, in essence merely two meltaguns calibrated so they combine their fire, aims to
remedy. It is not without a price, however, as the resulting weapon is far heavier and hardly fit for the
same fast paced engagements as its small brother.
Heavy flamer : It is hardly a surprise that the Imperium sought to upscale its regular pattern of flamer,
but though it results in a far more effective weapon.
Heavy bolter : The heavy bolter is, for all intents and purposes, a bigger boltgun ; Both its mechanism
and ammunition are scaled up, rendering it far more potent though also more cumbersome. It also
requires a backpack to supply it with the needed bolts, as clips would prove impractical ; This is both a
flaw and an advantage, however, as it allows long, uninterrupted fire at the cost of added weight.
Plasma cannon : Firing enormous blasts of its namesake, the plasma cannon keeps the sheer lethality
of its small brother and adds the benefit of a literal explosion of superheated hydrogen to it, melting
its way through the armour of its target and anyone foolish enough to have stood close to it.
Heavy Incinerator : Though rendered far too heavy for the quickness of close quarter firefights, the
heavy incinerator benefits from added pressure at its muzzle, allowing it to propel holy prometheum
over impressive distances, making for a still largely practical weapon.
Pistols
Bolt Pistol : While it can only fire a few bolts - if only more than one - before needing to be reloaded,
something not that detrimental when used for only a few instants before closing in for melee, the bolt
pistol more than makes up for this impracticality by using the exact same projectile as the mighty
boltgun.
Plasma Pistol : Though the reduction in size has made the plasma pistols projectile more unstable,
allowing for far less accuracy, its power is unaffected, making for a lethality rare amongst pistols.
Inferno Pistol : Arcane works of art, inferno pistols are some of the most lethal infantry-borne
weapons of the 41st millennium, and in the form of a pistol, though their application is very limited
due to a particularly small range.
Melee Weapons
Chainsword : Unsophisticated weapons, chainswords are however brutally effective against
unarmoured foes, and trained sisters, with the Emperors guidance, can hope to lodge it into weak
points of their opponents armour for a still devastating blow.
Power Weapons : Only bestowed upon high-ranking members of the Adepta Sororitas, one of the
rare weapons ceremonially given even in non-militant orders, power weapons symbolize power, both
because of the rarity of their wielders and their potency on the battlefield.
* Power lances have two profiles for both Strength and AP. The first is used only on a turn in which a
model charges ; the second is used at all other times.
Eviscerator : Essentially a chainsword of an enormous size, few foes could ever hope to survive the
blow of an eviscerator, though its size makes it far too cumbersome to be wielded in any form of
grace or speed ; It is however irrelevant to the sisters who willingly arm themselves with this weapon
in a spirit of sacrifice, often motivated by repentance.
Arco-flail : Rarely practical, arco-flails are as much a punishment to their wearer as a mean for them
to atone for their sins in battle ; Their total inability to block enemy blows is as much a guarantee of
the later as it ensures there is but one way for arco-flagellants - All-out offense.
Neural Shock : Against non-vehicle units with a Leadership of 8 or less, a Neural Whip has the
Shred special rule. If there are different Leadership values in the target unit, use the majority rule.
Vehicle Weapons
Exorcist missile launcher : Sometimes - and far more precious when it is the case - fashioned as a
pipe organ, the Exorcist missile launcher is a temperamental weapon whose rites have been in part
forgotten with the years, though any missile it consents to fire will invariably wreck havoc.
Flamestorm cannon : Concentrating its entire firepower into a short-ranged wall of fire, the
flamestorm cannon, contrarily to its small brethren, can seldom be ignored except by the most
armoured foes, its intense heat enough to make the smallest crack or weak point in an armour a
painful and unforgiving experience.
Carapace Armour : Though the non-militant orders do not usually make use of any form of power-
armour, even the light pattern employed by the Sisters of Battle proving cumbersome for their
purposes, they would certainly not go to war without any protection. They employ a specific pattern
of carapace armour that, aside from being fashioned with their orders iconography, includes tools
dedicated to their function.
Power Armour : Constructed from thick ceramite plates, the power armour worn by the Adepta
Sororitas is based upon the same archaic systems as that worn by the brethren of the Adeptus
Astartes. It provides the same degree of armoured protection, yet must forego the more advanced
support systems and strength enhancing abilities, for the Sisters of Battle do not possess a Space
Marines ability to interface directly with their own armour. Despite this, the Sisters of Battle are one
of the few forces outside of the Adeptus Astartes to be granted the right to wear such formidable
armour, and they are trained to use its abilities to deadly effect.
A storm shield confers a 3+ invulnerable save. In addition, a model equipped with a storm shield can
never claim the +1 Attack gained for being armed with two Melee weapons in an assault.
Special Issue Wargear
Frag grenades : Lethal storms of shrapnel from these grenades drive opponents further under cover
for a few precious moments, allowing attackers more time to close in and, hopefully, get the first
blow in against a disoriented foe.
Shooting
When a unit armed with assault grenades makes a shooting attack, one model can choose to throw a
grenade, rather than using another shooting weapon.
Assault
Models equipped with assault grenades dont suffer the penalty to their Initiative for charging
enemies through difficult terrain, but fight at their normal Initiative in the ensuing combat.
Krak grenades : Krak grenades are implosive charges designed to crack vehicle armour, though
address can make it lethal to infantry as well.
Shooting
When a unit armed with krak grenades makes a shooting attack, one model can choose to throw a
grenade, rather than using another shooting weapon.
Assault
Unless used in assaults against vehicles, gun emplacements or Monstrous Creatures, krak grenades
have no effect. When they are used in assaults against vehicles, gun emplacements or Monstrous
Creatures, krak grenades have the following profile :
Shooting
Melta bombs are cumbersome devices. Melta bombs cannot be used to make a shooting attack.
Assault
Unless used in assaults against vehicles, gun emplacements or Monstrous Creatures, melta bombs
have no effect. When used in assaults against vehicles, buildings, gun emplacements or Monstrous
Creatures, melta bombs have the following profile :
Psyk-out grenades : Mixed with its explosive ordnance, a psyk-out grenade contains a dust coming
from the very body of the God-Emperor with anti-psyker properties.
Shooting
When a unit armed with krak grenades makes a shooting attack, one model can choose to throw a
grenade, rather than using another shooting weapon.
Psi-shock : If a unit containing at least one Psyker (i.e. a model with the Psyker, Brotherhood
of Psykers/Sorcerers or Psychic Pilot special rule) is hit by a weapon with the Psi-shock special rule,
one randomly determined Psyker model in that unit suffers Perils of the Warp in addition to any
other damage.
Assault
Models with the Psyker, Brotherhood of Psykers/Sorcerers or Psychic Pilot special rules that are
charging a unit equipped with psyk-out grenades do not gain bonus Attacks from charging. However,
if the charged unit was already locked in combat from a previous turn, or has gone to ground, these
grenades have no effect and the attackers gain bonus Attacks as normal.
Laud Hailer : Proclaiming the power of the Emperor in heavenly tones, a laud hailer bolsters the
spirits of the faithful.
All friendly units within 12" of a model with a laud hailer re-roll failed Leadership tests when
attempting an Act of Faith.
Blessed Standard : The standards of the Adepta Sororitas are thrice blessed by the prioress of their
convent before they march to war.
Friendly units within 12" of the bearer re-roll failed Morale, Fear and Pinning tests.
Chirurgeons Tools : Implements of both torture and salvation, the chirurgeons tools can restore the
fallen so that they might fight once more.
As long as the Sister-Hospitaller is alive, all models in her unit have the Feel No Pain special rule.
Jet Wings : Jet wings enable the wearer to make great bounding leaps across the battlefield and
make a boosted flight over short distances or to the tops of fortress walls. Jet wings also enable
airdrop deployment plummeting into battle on wings of fire like an avenging angel.
A model buying Jet Wings gains either the Jump or Jet Pack unit type. The choice must be part of the
Army List, and all models of a single unit must make the same choice.
Rosarius : A rosarius is a gorget or amulet worn by some members of the Ecclesiarchy to protect them
from physical and spiritual harm. It is believed that the stronger the bearers belief in the might of the
Emperor, the stronger the rosarius force field will be.
Simulacrum Imperialis : These holy symbols of the Ecclesiarchy were once carried by one of the
Imperiums many saints, or may even be wrought from their bones. They are wellsprings of
inspiration and faith and it is a great honour to carry such an irreplaceable relic into battle.
A unit with a Simulacrum Imperialis can attempt to use its Act of Faith twice during a battle instead
of just once, regardless of whether or not the first attempt resulted in a passed or failed Leadership
test. Note, however, that a unit can still only attempt to use one Act of Faith in the same phase. Also
note that only the units Act of Faith can be attempted twice, not that of any Independent Characters
that have joined the unit.
If a model with the Simulacrum Imperialis is removed as a casualty, its unit cannot attempt to use
their Act of Faith for the rest of the battle (but any Independent Characters that have joined the unit
that can use an Act of Faith can still attempt to do so).
Divine Icon : Sisters-protanus carry with them idols ritually inscribed with runes that protect the
precious relics that are their charge from the taint of the warp.
Sisters-Pronatus can block psychic powers as if they were psykers with mastery level 1.
Beacon of Sanctity : Acting as literal warp-lightning rods, these holy idols are the only refuge of the
faithful against the Immateriums taint.
The Sister-Pronatus can block Psychic powers as if she was mastery level 2 ( This does not stack with
the effect of a Divine Icon ).
Vehicle Equipment
Storm-Bolter : Storm bolters make for excellent pintle-mounted weapons as their high rate of fire is
an excellent deterrent against infantry assaults and the high ammo capacity of their magazine allows
the tank commander to operate them with only rare expositions to reload.
Smoke Launchers : Some vehicles have small launchers mounted onto them that carry smoke
canisters. These are used to temporarily obscure the vehicle behind billowing clouds of smoke,
allowing it to cross open areas in greater safety although it does so at the cost of being able to fire
its own weapons.
Once per game, instead of shooting or moving Flat Out (or Running in the case of Walkers), a vehicle
with smoke launchers can trigger them. Place some cotton wool or some other appropriate counter
next to the vehicle to show it is obscured. The vehicle may not fire any of its weapons in the same
turn as it used smoke launchers, but counts as obscured in the next enemy Shooting phase, receiving
a 5+ cover save.
After the enemys Shooting phase, the smoke disperses with no further effect. Note that a vehicle
may still use smoke launchers even if has suffered a Crew Shaken or Stunned result or it does not
have any shooting weapons
Dozer Blade : Dozer blades are heavy ploughs, blades, rams, or scoops, used to clear obstacles from
the vehicles path.
Vehicles equipped with dozer blades treat their front armour as one higher than normal when
ramming. Furthermore the vehicle can re-roll failed Dangerous Terrain tests.
Extra Armour : Some vehicle crews add additional armour plating to their vehicles to provide a little
extra protection.
Vehicles equipped with extra armour count Crew Stunned results from the Vehicle Damage table as
Crew Shaken results instead.
Searchlight : Searchlights are often fitted to vehicles so that the foe cannot use darkness as an ally.
Searchlights are used when the Night Fighting rules are in effect. If a vehicle has a searchlight, it can,
after firing all of its weapons, choose to illuminate its target with the searchlight. If it does so, it also
illuminates itself. You may find it helpful to place coins, or other suitable counters, next to the units
as reminders, and next to a vehicle to show it has used its searchlights this turn.
Illumination lasts until the end of the following turn. Illuminated units gain no benefit from the Night
Fighting rule
Hunter-Killer Missile : Hunter-killer missiles are commonly fitted to Imperial vehicles. These single-use
weapon systems allow vehicles such as Rhinos to engage armoured enemy vehicles that would
otherwise far outmatch them.
A hunter-killer missile is an additional weapon, fired using the vehicles Ballistic Skill.
Laud Hailer : Proclaiming the power of the Emperor in heavenly tones, a Laud Hailer bolsters the
spirits of the faithful.

Book of St. Lucius..........5 points
This great tome contains the complete writings of St. Lucius of Agathea, the first Archconfessor, a
priest who was justly known for his unbending zeal. Such was the Archconfessors devotion that his
book was penned not in ink, but with his own blood. Even now, centuries after St. Lucius death, it is
believed that a fraction of his essence still pervades its pages, and one who holds the book speaks
with all his holy authority. In dire times, certain passages can be read aloud from the book during a
battle, the words banishing mortal fears in an instant and inspiring the warriors of the Ecclesiarchy to
great acts of heroism.
All friendly units within 12" of the bearer automatically pass any Fear or Regroup tests they are
required to take.
When Sebastian Thor was declared Ecclesiarch in the wake of the Age of Apostasy, his first sermon
was transcribed onto scrolls by an army of scribes and a copy distributed to each cardinal world in the
Imperium. Today, only a single original copy remains, kept in a stasis vault beneath the Convent
Prioris on Terra and released only with the sanction of the Ecclesiarch himself. This unassuming
parchment is one of the holiest relics in the Ministorums charge, its mere presence enough to fill the
hearts of the faithful with righteous fervour.
The bearer, the bearers unit and any Independent Character that has joined the bearers unit
automatically pass any Leadership test required when attempting to use either an Act of Faith or a
War Hymn
Canoness St. Aspira of the Order of the Bloody Rose led her Battle Sisters in a War of Faith that
liberated nearly one hundred worlds from the grip of the blasphemous tyrant Denescura. At the
inception of the war, Aspira was presented with a magnificent cloak blessed in the Ecclesiarchal
Palaces of Terra. Whilst this in itself marked the cloak as a treasured relic, small shards of the
Emperors own armour were woven into it to ward away the blows of the enemy, elevating it to a
sacred garment of incomparable spiritual significance. St. Aspira wore the cloak throughout the War
of Faith, striding into the fray heedless of her own safety, secure in her unwavering knowledge that
the Emperor protects.
The wearer of the Cloak of St. Aspira re-rolls all failed armour and Shield of Faith invulnerable saving
throws.
Mantle of Ophelia1..........25 points
The Mantle of Ophelia was once the badge of office for the Prioress of the Convent Sanctorum and
was worn by Helena the Virtuous, a Living Saint and one of the most revered leaders in the history of
the Adepta Sororitas. The mantle is thought to have sacred powers of protection, for Helena was said
to have anointed it with the Tears of the Emperor, a phial of blood-like liquid meticulously collected
over a century from weeping statues of the Emperor found across the cardinal worlds of the Imperium.
The wearer of the Mantle of Ophelia has the Eternal Warrior special rule.
This blessed power sword is the very blade carried into battle by Alicia Dominica the founding saint
of the Adepta Sororitas and was famously used to cut the head from the arch-traitor Goge Vandire
and bring an end to the Reign of Blood. St. Dominica wielded this blade in the decades following the
reformation of the Ecclesiarchy, and a thousand more false prophets and heretics were slain upon its
razor edge before Alicias eventual martydom. The silver blade was recovered and polished to a
mirror finish, and it is said that one who looks upon it can see the reflection of their own soul. Those
who wield the sword cannot therefore fail to compare their worthiness to that of St. Dominica and so
strive to emulate her peerless example.
The Mace of Valaan is an ornate weapon surrounded by a halo of glowing energy that is doom to the
worshipers of Chaos and anathema to the foul denizens of the Warp. It was famously recovered by
the Ecclesiarchys Arch-Confessor, Redemptor Kyrinov, at the onset of his battles against the
Demagogue Lord during the purge of Valaan. Since then, it has consigned a thousand heretics to
oblivion, pulping skulls and shattering bodies with every crushing strike. It is now synonymous with
the office of Arch-Confessor, and a priest who wields it is said to smite with all the fury and unbending
zeal of Kyrinov himself.
All friendly units from this codex within 12" of the bearer have +1 Attack and re-roll failed Morale,
Fear and Pinning tests.
The armour is of ancient, now obsolete design, and bears the marks of generations of warfare. The
barest remnants of robes and leather cling to it, scratched off inch by inch. The surface gleams with
the dull sheen of unpainted ceramite, paint scored away by the hundreds of battles it has taken part
in over the centuries. No symbols or engravings remain, replaced by cracks, scars, and rough, bare
metal- the proud legacy of a vigil lasting thousands of years.
When a Sister steps forth to guard the realm of Humanity, girded in its bare, sacred adamantium, she
does so without pompous honours, bereft of ego or blasphemous pride. Rather, she is swathed in the
grim legacy of those who have lived and died in the Armour of the Gatekeeper, and her enemies bear
witness that legions of witches, Daemons and heretics have tried and failed to break the long vigil of
the Sisters. Her armour is proof of her unyielding will, a ghost of cracked marble amongst the
gleaming gold and sacred ornamentation of her brethren, heeding the call of the Emperor until the
very end.
You did not side with the Emperor, you sided with the victors
You are not a traitor, that much is true ; You are a craven with loyalty for nothing and no one but
yourself.
Sororitas Power Armour : Designed specifically for the Adepta by Gorge Vandire, it is one of the only
remnants of his legacy that the sisters did not rid themselves off when they ended his treacherous
reign. It offers the same protection as regular power armour, despite looking much lighter, and it is ;
It, however, does not possess the same life-supporting and strength-enhancing capacities as the
Astartes version. The sisters would not be able to capitalize on those anyway, as they lack the black
carapace that enhances the communion between the armour and its wearer ; Their absence thus
grants them much more speed and agility than the Space Marine patterns do.
Sabbat Pattern Helm : While the power armour used by the Adepta Sororitas is different from those
used by other non-Astartes humans only in appearance, the Sabbat Pattern helm is an entirely
original creation. It is simpler in design than most alternatives, as the warriors of the Ecclesiarchy
prefer to rely on their faith and sisters rather than on machines to know what to do, as is exemplified
by the fact most of them do not wear their helmet in battle. Of course, while it would be implying a
lack of modesty and simplicity on the part of the Adepta Sororitas, donning the Sabbat would also
hide their tattoos, though many have crude likeliness of these carved into the ceramite to reflect
their honours.
When a Sister dies, her helm is placed in the massive mess hall of her convent, a simple likeliness of
her face carefully fashioned into the ceramite, and her skull resting inside it. If the piece of armour
wasnt recovered, a new one is forged, but if it is the bone that is missing, one will be sculpted from a
material that depends upon her rank ( Which may be posthumous ) ; Stone for the most simple
sisters, silver for those who have achieved a higher rank, gold for canonesses, and diamond for Saints
and prioresses.
Godwyn-De'az Pattern Boltgun : Smaller than its Astartes counterpart, for good reason, as the
Sisters would never be able to effectively wield these oversized weapons, though it fires the exact
same bolts ; This pattern of Bolter is only in use by the Adepta Sororitas, having stood against the
test of time thanks to its reliability and potency. A feature appreciated by the warriors of the
Ecclesiarchy is the ability to affix a Sarissa - a vicious, curved blade that can be used to piece or cut -
to the weapon, a trait most useful to the close-quarter tactics of the sisters.
Tattoos : While some honours are particular to the militant orders, most are commendations of the
Adepta Sororitas at large, which requires that they can be shown in any clothing a sister may wear,
which ranges from power armour to robes if not the sometimes extravagant fashion amongst noble
houses in the case of Sisters-Famulous.
That solution is often found in tattoos, which by essence can be worn by anybody. They are often
found on the face of sisters, though always in measure as to preserve the purity of the holy human
form ; In fact, many are true works of art by the skilled dexterity of sister-hospitallers or sister-scribus
whose hands never tremble, looking simple and discrete from afar, but showing fine details upon
closer inspection, often revealing the story of the deed that is commemorated or of the sister who
bears the mark.
Most of these tattoos can be understood by any sister from any convent - like the Inquisitions
rosette symbolizing service as an acolyte - but the finer details and position often change depending
on the order if not individual. Some orders even go as far as branding their skin instead of inking it,
but it is often frowned upon as it is seen as destructive to their holy human form.
Sacred Grounds
During the Months of Shame, the brief conflict opposing the Inquisition, as it was trying to contain
the taint of chaos after the First War of Armageddon, and the Space Wolves, who opposed their
treatment of civilian population, a minor, non-militant order of the Adepta Sororitas found its way
into the quasi-civil war between two of the most powerful forces of the Imperium.
Inquisitor Jyrkiainen, a member of the Inquisition who supported the Inquisitions firm stance against
the Space Wolves, found his way into the losing side of a naval fight with a Cruiser loyal to the
ancient chapter, but managed to escape death thanks to quick thinking and his ships escape pods.
However, despite the overall stance of the space marines to not aggress the Inquisitions forces, the
few Astartes aboard their ship - which was manned exclusively by serfs, the super-human warriors
only there for commandment - decided it was an occasion ripe for a manhunt, as Jyrkiainen used
much of his political might to oppose the Space Wolves.
Unfortunately for him, the Inquisitor couldnt make his way to a populated world with the limited
fuel of his pod - let alone without easily being caught up with by the Cruiser at his back - and had to
take his chance with a nearby Shrine world. This couldnt have pleased the Space Marines more, as
the nearly uninhabited world was mostly covered in vast forest, the reason of its status as a
dominion of the Ecclesiarchy unapparent, if even still known by the Imperium at large, which would
give them a long awaited occasion for a manhunt, their wolves tired of the confines of the ship.
Making landfall only a few minutes the Inquisitor, they quickly found his footprints - deeply carved
into the snow - and smell, which the wolves ran after, confident they would tear him limb from limb
without much difficulty - and whatever resistance he could muster would be welcome after the
dullness of the Cruisers hull. As the Space Wolves esteemed they were catching up with him, the
ground becoming ancient stone and the trees altars to the Emperors glory.
Before long, figures greeted them, a careful suspicion if not hatred upon their face ; Sisters of the
Adepta Sororitas in heavy white robes. A old woman, whose attire bore several tokens the others did
not, most likely marking her as a sister-superior, approached the Astartes, visibly unimpressed, and
warned them that these holy grounds were the Emperors and murder would not be tolerated within
its walls, even less so on one of His holiest servitors.
The Space Wolves were outraged to be barred entry, but they remained His servitors after all ; They
tried to negotiate as calmly as they could, though they quickly realized it was visibly only buying time
for the sisters to fortify their positions, as young girls, Novices, brought the few boltguns there were
in the shrine, and that quickly found their place in the fortifications cleverly integrated into the
shrines design.
The tone of the Astartes started becoming more hostile, threatening to slaughtering their way
through if they werent brought the Inquisitor at once. The mouth of the sister-superior stayed shut
for a moment before quickly and resolutely telling the Space Wolves leader :
Ive faced your kind, traitors, before old age confined me to this shrine, Astartes. All for this very
moment, the moment I would tell my sisters of the weaknesses in your armour, and one last time,
intone a battle prayer. Ill have died with the honour of a duty and a life well fought ; Will you say the
same, when youll burn in eternal damnation ?
The End of a Sister
The Adepta Sororitas Oaths are not easily broken, not even by death, and when they are, it is
punished with extreme severity. Such an occurrence is rare however, and most sisters die during the
exercise of their duty.
But those who are neither disgraced nor killed in action are certainly not freed of their oaths but do
however have a very special place in the Sisterhood. Too old to serve themselves, they will stay in
convents to dispense their experience ; Because many of the orders require hands unhindered by age
- neither a Battle-Sister nor a Sister-Surgeon can fulfill her duties without those - this can actually
prove a lengthy mission, sometimes encompassing most of ones life. It is however to be understood
that the highest-ranking members of the Adepta Sororitas are seldom affected by this as they will be
granted rejuvenation programs ; They are however very much esteemed and seen with respect,
especially by those they teach who will likely not have lived for as long as their mentors have served
the Emperor.
A particular purpose for these women is also to ensure a certain hybridization between orders ;
Active sisters, especially those gifted enough to be given the honour of forging the next generation,
can hardly be spared by their Ordo, as their gifts may be called upon at any time. However, retired
sisters can easily be sent to another order, as their only use is the spread of their experience ; This is
often used as a way to bolster remote convents with their particular skills.
For example, old warriors, though incapable of keeping pace with their younger sisters, can be
invaluable in giving a temple of the Ordo-Pronatus precious strategic instructions, or specific
information on their enemies, if they ever come under attack and must defend their holy relics with
arms.
