Marking grids for answers

Have you read Chapter 38 yet? This chapter explains how your examination
answers will be marked.
Examiners use marking grids to help them mark answers. These grids indicate
how many marks each skill is worth. The mark grids used on this CD follow
the model used in the paper 3 case study examination. This provides you with
precise information about the skills needed.
When you answer any of the activities or case study questions from the
textbook you need to think very carefully about: a) which skills you need to
show and b) how many marks each skill is worth.
This introductory note helps you provide answers to both of these questions.
It cannot give you marking grids for every question this would take up too
much space but it does allow you to judge how marks are allocated for each
skill for most of the questions in the book. If a question is worth a different
total of marks, you can still judge from these examples how the marks will be
allocated between knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation.

Questions requiring analysis and evaluation will use directive commands, such as:
evaluate
discuss
recommend
justify
assess
to what extent.

If no evaluation is required, questions that require analysis will use directive commands,
such as:
analyse
explain
consider
examine.
