Although, Even Though: Used To Introduce A Concessive Clause

Concessive clauses and adverbials are used to contrast two situations or show that an action is unexpected. They include "although" and "even though" followed by a subject and verb to introduce a concessive clause. "Despite" and "in spite of" are also used with a following noun or verb plus "-ing". Other transition words like "even so", "yet", "however" can be used at the start of a sentence. Structurally, concessive connectors like "although" are similar to causal connectors like "because". Examples demonstrate the use of various concessive expressions.
