Course Description

Condition monitoring and diagnostics have been found to be a cost effective means of
increasing the availability and reliability of machines. This process translates into
increased production, higher profitability, greater safety, and less stress on personnel.
This course has been written for the beginner in a predictive maintenance program. This
course is intended to acquaint the beginner in the necessary concepts and basic practices
involved in machine condition monitoring and diagnostics. Everyday practical work
experience will add to the skill of the new analyst

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for those who have had less than two years of experience in
measuring and analyzing machine vibrations. Also, this course is taken by individuals
new to vibration analysis to prepare for the Vibration Institute's Category I Vibration
Analyst Certification Examination.

Objective
At the end of this course, participants will be able to select the appropriate sensor and
technique to diagnose typical machinery malfunctions. They will be able to read
vibration signatures and evaluate machinery condition from the data. Participants will
recognize various common problems and be able to make recommendations for
continued operation repairs, and isolation of the affected machinery component.

Methodology
The training methodology is a combination of lectures, individual, workshop and
examination. The participants will each be provided with a handout that contains printed
materials for use during the training and for reference after the training.
