Comment
As the number of terms increase, the triangular graphs becomes a better approximation (less wavey) while the
square graph becomes more square-like. Both graphs originate from the function sin() at = 1.
Task 2
By adjusting the summation equations from Task 1, we can express the equations in Figure 3 in summation form
shown in Figure 4. We would then get the following graphs in Figure 5 and 6.

Features of both graphs


For y1 and y2:

Differences:
The cosine series graph is triangular while
the sine series is a wave. Compared to Task
1, the triangular graph in Task 2 almost
represents a cosine graph while in Task 1, it
represented a sine graph. For the wave
function, its denominator is squared, giving Figure 4 - Wave (sinx) graph
its wave form, while in Task 1, it was not
squared, making it a square shape.
