CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

From the experiment conducted, the students were able to conclude that experimental value

gathered was way more different from the true value taken from the internet. And because of

this, the percentage error yielded a large value. This might be because of some factors or

conditions like; temperature, oxidation and/or the presence of impurities. Temperature

greatly affects the surface tension for as the temperature decreases, surface tension increases.

Oxidation can also affect surface tension directly for as surface tension increases,

intermolecular forces increase. Oxygen in the atmosphere is known to decrease the surface

tension of various substances. And lastly the presence of impurities on the surface of,

dissolved in, and/or didnt fully remove by the students. And this substance could highly

affect the surface tension of the liquid. The surface tension of water, for example, will

increase when highly soluble impurities are added to it.

To lessen the percentage error the students can recommend that the next people who will

conduct the same activity should be aware of the factors that could affect their data. And the

highlight of the factors noted was to wash and clean the apparatus right to achieve a

favorable result.
