Mintzberg identified 10 managerial roles that managers fulfill, grouped into 3 categories: informational roles which involve seeking and sharing information; interpersonal roles which involve social duties and motivating subordinates; and decisional roles which involve initiating projects, handling problems, allocating resources, and negotiating.
