API 650 DESIGN CHECK LIST

1. Check whether Design Temp. / Internal pressure are within the range of Design code (i.e. 260 0C and 2
Psi)
2. Appendix-M requirements shall be applicable for following cases
If design Temp. > 900 C for C.S.Tanks but not exceeding 2600C
> 400 C for S.S.Tanks (In addition to Appendix S) but not exceeding 2600C
NOTE:- ANNEX M ( REQUIREMENTS FOR TANKS OPERATING AT ELEVATED TEMP)

3. Provided Top curb Angle area is more than required area at roof to shell junction for self-supported
Application to tanks supported on a framework elevated above grade is beyond the scope of this
Seismic design of floating roofs is beyond the scope of this Annex.
APPLICATION OF TANKS SUPPORTTED ON A FRAMEWORK ELEVATED ABOVE
GRADE IS BEYOND THE SCOPE THIS ANNEX.
Tanks located in regions where S1 is less than or equal to 0.04 and SS less than or equal to 0.15, or the peak
ground acceleration for the ground motion defined by the regulatory requirements is less than or equal to 0.05g,
need not be designed for seismic forces; however, in these regions, tanks in SUG III shall comply with the
freeboard requirements of this Annex. (ANNEX E)
