1 Introduction
1.1 Project Description
Background to the project from the value proposition. Include a summary of the current level
of PMO.
Describe the overall approach to the improvement project. Generally, how is the project going
to be undertaken.
2 Management Plan
2.1 Management
Who is going to manage the improvement project, usually the PMO Manager but this person
may not be appointed yet.
How often does the Project Manager report the status to the PMO Executive. How often do
they meet to discuss progress. Meetings should be regular to ensure focus remains on the
project and the benefits are acknowledged as they are realized.
Where is the PMO to be located. What facilities will it require and who is responsible for
supplying the facilities.
What skills and resources will be required for the improvement project and on-going
management of the PMO.
2.4.2 Training
What training will be required for future project managers and the management and operation
of the PMO. Include any anticipated methods and tools training.
What tools, methods and / or consultants will be required to be purchased or contracted for the
improvement project? How will they be selected? Who will manage the consultants and what
records will be required from them?
If a standard project change and issue register does not exist define how changes and issues
to this project will be logged and managed until standard registers are implemented as part of
this project.
Like any other project, the Project Execution Plan will be updated at the end of each phase,
the end of the project and other times as deemed necessary.

Acknowledge any existing organizational standards that will be adhered to for documentation
and processes.

If a standard risk register does not exist define how risks to this project will be logged and
managed until a standard register is implemented as part of this project. Populate the risk
register with the initial identified risks to the project.
