Concert, Marching, and Jazz Band

Depending on the cycle day, we will be having a rehearsal for one of the three groups.
Concert band is days 1 & 4, Marching is 2 & 5, and Jazz is 3 & 6. If you are not
participating in the group which is rehearsing, please treat this class as a study hall.
You have work for other classes, and this is a great time to do it.

Grading:
Attendance for rehearsals and concerts is MANDATORY. The Holiday Concert will be
Sunday, December 3rd, and the Spring Concert will be Sunday, May 6th. Students will
report a 1:30 for a rehearsal/soundcheck before each concert. In addition, students
have the opportunity to earn up to 50 Rehearsal Etiquette points each grading period.
Students are also expected to attend at least two lessons each grading period.

Lessons:
Students have been sorted into lesson groups for the school year. Lessons happen
during periods 2, 4, and 8. Students are to report during a scheduled lesson, or may
come to the make-up lesson time. Students are grouped by instrument to facilitate
easier group lesson environments. Lessons are your time for individual instruction, and
very specific help for any technical issues or questions regarding your instrument.
Bring your questions!!!

Concert Attire
Students are expected to dress formally for concerts. Festive colors for the Holiday
Concert are preferred, as are brighter “Spring” colors for the Spring concert.
Gentlemen, please make sure to dress with a nice shirt and pants. No torn clothing or
sweatpants. Ladies, make sure that any dresses or skirts are long. Again, please no
sweatpants or torn clothing.
