Slider Crank Example

The document provides data and instructions for analyzing a slider crank mechanism, including a kinematics example. It gives dimensional values for links OA, AB, and AC. It asks the reader to derive (a) position vector equations, (b) velocity vector equations, and (c) acceleration vector equations for the mechanism. It also asks the reader to construct (d) a velocity diagram and (e) an acceleration diagram for a given position and input speed. Finally, it asks the reader to (f) determine the resultant force and torque applied to link AB.

The data for the mechanism is as follows : -

OA = 50 mm, IAB = 0.001 kgm2

AB = 150 mm, mp= 0.5 kg
AC = 40 mm, ` Input speed = 50 rps as shown.

a) Position vector equations,

b) Velocity vector equations,
c) Acceleration vector equations,

giving details of any assumptions made.

For the system construct : -

d) a velocity diagram and,

e) an acceleration diagram
f) Determine the resultant force and torque applied to link AB.

for the position given and speed.
