The course provides an introduction of the fundamental concepts, principles and methods to
health research. Students are introduced to the different types of research designs, methodology, and
analysis for undertaking health research.

V. COURSE OBJECTIVES :

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:


1. Understand the philosophical foundations and characteristics of health research
2. Know how to conceptualize and plan a health research
3. Identify the important ethical issues in health research
4. Discuss the strategies for enhancing quality in health research
5. Explain methods and tools health researchers collect data.
6. Identify the different sampling methods in health research
7. Enumerate and distinguish the different types of health research designs
8. Understand the use of different ways to analyze data
9. Recognize how to report and give meaning to research findings using appropriate format
10. Critique a research study based on the principles of a good research
11. Apply the different concepts and principles in making a research proposal
