Physics q4

1) The document describes a physics construction project that demonstrates various physics concepts through a Rube Goldberg-inspired machine. 2) Key concepts shown include linear motion as the marble rolls along the pathway, Newton's laws of motion as different forces act on the marble, and energy transfers as potential energy converts to kinetic energy. 3) Data is provided on dimensions of parts and timing of the marble's motion. Analysis explains how the concepts are represented, such as different forces and energy transfers. Recommendations suggest improving the project by strengthening materials and concurrent work on the report and building.

DATA
The pile of the building → 2cm *2cm * 10 inches
The bigger building → 42.5 * 20 * 12 cm
The smaller building → 21.8 * 14 * 14cm
Gate → 31 * 11 * 7.5 cm
The baseboard of the project → 80cm * 60cm
The pathway for the marble → 60+45+71 = 176 cm

1 - 60cm = 1.12 sec momentum = mv = 67.2 kg⋅m/s

2 - 45 cm = 1.52sec momentum = 68.4 kg⋅m/s
3 - 71 cm = 4.55 sec momentum = 323.05 kg⋅m/s

How many minutes does the marble reach the end? → 9.1 secs
Weight of the marble → 50g 14
Analysis
15
● Linear motion - motion in a straight line and occurs when
the marble moves along the pathway in straight line.
● Motion in a straight line. - when marble moves along the
pathway in straight line.

Analysis

16
● Newton 1st law - At first
the marble stay at rest until
it starts moving by an
unbalanced force - thumb
that push marble forward.
● Then, the marble move along
the pathway - it continue
moving until it hit the switch
which is the external force
of newton 1st law.
● This also linked to Newton
3rd law. 17
● There is an action and reaction between switch and the
thumb.
● As the the marble move along the way non stop till the
end of the pathway is Linear motion.
● Newton 2nd law is created when the same force push
Analysis the ball and it is being roll.

18
● Newton 3rd law occurs when the ball hit the wall,
the force from the marble to wall and the wall to
marble is equal
● Energy is transferred- Kinetic energy into the
Potential energy when it’s at the edge before it
falls down.
● gravity is the force that pull the object down to
the ground.

19
● The higher of the edge, the
more acceleration is occured.
● While it is falling down, it
transferred from potential to
Analysis kinetic energy
● The marble that we chose can
represented high rotational
motion
● Potential energy - marble is
at rest before rolling.
20
● Kinetic energy is when marble
start rolling.
● Momentum is occurred when the
The marble is slide along the pathway
● Electrostatics is occured when
charges or fields as opposed to
electric currents.
● Electric current is when the
energy is sent from the battery
to the bulb and it makes the
light turn on.
21
Conclusion
● Inspired by Rube Goldberg
● We demonstrate the concept we learnt - through our product.
● When the marble rolls along the pathway, there is linear motion,
newton’s law, momentum, energy, circular motion, and gravity.
● works successfully & make some happiness to viewer.
● We are expected that this project can show how all the physics
concept linked to the real life, which is represented by the
physics concept.

Recommendation
◈ we did the lab report first, and then the project.
◈ we can’t finish the project in time
◈ Recommendation- work on lab report and the
project together, not separately
◈ we need to spend more time on the project
◈ problems - materials that we use to build it doesn’t
strong enough to hold to marble.
◈ next time we have to use stronger materials / build a
stronger basement of the project. 23
