Deepsea Load OnDemand
Deepsea Load OnDemand
In the Deep Sea 5510 controller software there is an option called remote start on load demand.
This option will start and stop generators automatically depending up on load levels.
Benelux is using the load on demand option for a reefer container plant.
When the load of the running generators is above 80% the deep sea is automatically starting,
synchronizing and load sharing an extra generator.
When the load of the generators is down to 60% the deep sea will switch of one generator.
In this document there is the official document from DSE how to use this option.
There are also some screenshots from the DSE software to give you more information which
settings you have to change to use this option.
Start to connect the controller with the computer and use READ FROM COMPUTER
Warning!!!
When you are ready with the changes on the software you have to use the button
If you don’t change CLOSE TO ACTIVATE you have to connect digital input 4 with the
ground when you want to use the option remote start on load demand.
If you are sure that the installation only will run on remote start on load demand you also
can change close to activate to:
Change 4 to: OPEN TO ACTIVATE
The connection is on an Aggreko generator always open you will immediately run on
remote start on load demand mode.
The set will only run in the mode load on demand when the
DC switch on
Controller in AUTO MODE (push button controller)
This is the normal auto stand mode but we changed digital input 4 to load on demand.
This means that the first generator witch will have the setting auto immediately will
start.
The breaker will close automatically!!!
When the other generators are in the auto mode the set with the highest priority will run
and if possible the others will stop.

STARTING OPTIONS
In this option you can make the choice are all the generators starting on the same time and will
stop generators automatically depending up on load levels.
Or give the generators different priorities then they will start on priority.
The generators have to be all in the auto mode.
Balnance hours.
This is the % of the max. kW level were the controller is switching of a generator.
This is the point where the controller is starting, synchronizing and load sharing an extra
generator.
Example:
Starting up:
There are three generators each with a maximum capacity of 100kW.
The setting calling for more sets is 80%.
Generator one is running on 80kW generator 2 will start because generator one is running on
80% of its maximum capacity.
Generator 3 will start up when the load is on 160kW or higher.
Switching off:
When the setting calling for less sets is adjusted on 50%
Three generators with an maximum capacity of 3x100kW are running parallel and the load is
150kW so each generator will run with a load of 50kW the generator with the lowest priority will
switch off. The load of the remaining generator sets will be 75kW so 75%.
There are load sharing Lines connected between the controllers.
Over this lines there is a communication what the load is of each machine and the load sharing
will also work over these lines.
When the controller is switched on it will automatically connect with the other one.
There also will be given automatically an MSC ID to the controller each controller will get its
own ID.
What not will be given automatically is the priority number.
The generator with the number one will start first and then number 2 etc.
Never give two machines the same number!
These generators will start on the same time and the principal of REMOTE START ON LOAD
DEMAND is gone.
It is necessary to switch off and on the Deep Sea controller after you have given the command
WRITE TO CONTROLLER to be sure that all the changes are saved and changed in the
controller.

WRITE TO CONTROLLER
It is necessary to switch off and on the Deep Sea controller after you have given the
command WRITE TO CONTROLLER to be sure that all the changes are saved and
changed in the controller. You can do this with the DC switch.
