HART PROTOCOL
UNIVERSAL INPUT
INTRODUCTION
The SEM315 has full HART communications protocol which allows the user to quickly and easily down-load information or
interrogate the device enabling the following:
All the standard HART universal and common usage commands are fully implemented, with other device specific commands
that enable access to the enhanced performance parameters of the SEM315.
E N H A N C E D F E AT U R E S
SENSOR REFERENCING
The SEM315 sensor referencing via the Windows based M-Config
software allows for close matching to a known reference sensor
eliminating possible sensor errors.
USER CALIBRATION
In addition to sensor referencing, user offset and current output
trimming is possible via the HART commands.
CUSTOM LINEARISATION
The [X]*¹ facility allows the SEM315 to be programmed with a
custom linearisation to suit non standard sensors or sensors with
unusual or unique characteristics. Consult the sales office for
details.
COMMUNICATION WITH A PC
Communication with a PC is easily accomplished by using the 1 24 V
HART modem supplied with the communications kit, and M-Config 2 NOMINAL
software. M-Config is the menu-driven software product from 3 LOOP LOAD
Status Instruments which runs under Windows and enables the 4
following functions to be quickly and easily performed: 5

Function
The integrated transmitter TR-26 measures the absolute vibrations of any rotating machine support
and is able to interface directly in 2 wires technique (current loop 4 to 20 mA) to an acquisition
system (PLC or DCS).
The transmitter reduces at the most the incidence of installation and wiring that normally limits the
possibilities of application of the traditional vibrations monitoring systems.
General description
The transmitter, secured directly on machinery, generates an electric signal (4 to 20 mA) which is
proportional to vibration speed or acceleration.
The transmitter is made of a stainless steel body with machine connection thread; the connection to
the users is effected by means of a connector MIL-C-5015–2 poles (supplied).
NOTE: The transmitter is available in different configuration versions and is operative once correctly
completed its electrical connection, as indicated by drawing 85465-P; it doesn't need of setup or
maintenance interventions.
