I. Workout The Following Questions Showing Necessary Steps Clearly. Unreadable Answer Worth No Mark

1. If one phase line fails in a three-phase delta connected motor, the motor will not start and remain stationary as it requires three balanced phases to generate a rotating magnetic field for operation. 2. Torque and power factor in a three-phase induction motor are related through their equations, with torque being directly proportional to power factor. 3. Starting methods for induction motors include direct-on-line, star-delta, and auto-transformer starting for cage rotor motors, and wound rotor motors can use external resistors for starting.

Unreadable answer
worth no mark
1. Explain what happen to a three phase delta connected motor running, if one of the phase
lines is failed & the remaining two phases are working properly? Explain why is so?
2. What is the relation between torque and power factor in three phase induction motor?
Drive and write their relationship in equation.
3. Mention the starting method of induction motor (cage and phase wound rotor) and explain
briefly with their net diagram.
4. The stator losses equal to the rotor losses. If the motor is delivering the full power output at a
speed of 1440 rpm, calculate,
i. A .Synchronous speed
ii. Mechanical power developed by the motor
iii. Rotor copper loss
iv. power transferred to stator to rotor
v. Stator power input
vi. Efficiency
5. A 50-kW, 440-V, 50-Hz, six-pole induction motor has a slip of 6 percent when operating at
full-load conditions. Find the value of load torque τload in Newton-meters.
6. An induction motor has a rotor resistance of 0.02 and a standstill reactance of 0.1. How
much external resistance must be added in the rotor circuit so as to get the maximum torque
at starting?
