DICOM Setup
ADM DICOM Setup
The first thing you will notice is that you cannot get to the
ADM Configuration Menu by pressing the ‘Appli’ key.
ADM DICOM Setup
Instead, you must press the Nemio XG ‘Preset
D . .’ key, and then click on ‘Preset’.
ADM DICOM Setup
The Nemio XG Preset Menu includes a new
button labeled ADM Maintenance. Click on
it to go to the ADM Configuration Menu.

Here is our old familiar configuration menu with some
new buttons. Click on ‘Service’ to configure DICOM.

Enter the password, and click on ‘OK’.

The password is still pc-ws.


ADM DICOM Setup
Before setting the DICOM configuration, you must set
the IP address of the ADM. Click on the Network
button in the Service Menu.

Double-click on Local Area Connection2.

IMPORTANT: Do not make any changes to


the other Local Area Connection. It is used
to communicate between the Nemio XG and
the ADM. If it is changed, you will not be able
to recover!

That will bring up the Local Area Connection2
Status screen. Click on Properties.

That will bring up the Local Area Connection2
Properties screen. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
and then click on Properties.

Enter the information given to you for the IP address, subnet
mask, and default gateway if necessary. Click OK as needed.
Do not reboot if asked, you will need to reboot after entering
the DICOM information.

Return to the Service Menu page and click
on the DICOM Setup button.

After clicking on the DICOM Setup button, you will
see the new, simpler, Main Configuration page.

Here, all you need to enter is the AE Title, Station
Name, Port No, etc. for the Nemio XG itself.

After entering the Nemio XG information,
click on the LMHOSTS button.
ADM DICOM Setup
Enter the Nemio XG and all other DICOM partners in the
lmhosts file with the IP address first, then the Host name.
Save the file and exit.
ADM DICOM Setup
For DICOM archives, go to the Archives tab, and type
over the information for the default archive.
Query/Retrieve providers will be added on another page.

Continue adding archives by clicking on the ‘Add Archive’
button, then type over the NewAETitle with your information.
ADM DICOM Setup
For DICOM printers, go to the Printer-1 tab, and enter the information for
the printer. Make sure to click on the ‘Enabled’ box to add printers. If the
printer supports color, put a check in the ‘Color’ box. For a second printer,
go to the Printer-2 tab and enter the information for it.

For Worklist, go to the MPPS/Worklist/Query-Retrieve tab, and enter the
information for the server and the Nemio. Make sure to click on the ‘Enabled’
box. This is also where you enter information for a Query/Retrieve provider.

Finally, make sure that DICOM Removable Media is enabled.
Check the other boxes only if you know they are necessary.

If services were added, you will need to re-
boot to make the changes take effect.
After re-booting, verify that DICOM
transfers are operating correctly by starting
a study, saving some images and sending to
the archive(s) and printer.

If the transfer is not successful, go back to the DICOM Setup to
troubleshoot. Notice that a ‘Ping’ button has been added. Click
on it to check connectivity to the DICOM partner. If successful,
click on C-Echo to perform a DICOM Association.

To check Modality Worklist operation, first
click on the New Patient icon on the Tool Bar.

On the New Patient screen, click on Retrieve
Worklist to bring in the Worklist.

The system will go out to fetch the Worklist.

The Worklist will be displayed, and the
operator can select a patient.

The patient will be inserted in the New Patient screen.
Common DICOM Problem
Typo when entering the Date of Birth in New Patient screen.

Common DICOM Problem
Images will not be sent to the archive because
DICOM does not allow a negative age. The ADM
will not parse the data.

Customer will complain that all other studies


transfer, but this one will not. Must be a problem
with the Nemio, no?

NO!!

This problem is easy to troubleshoot and fix.


Common DICOM Problem
Open the offending study for review, and right-click on the
image. A menu will appear. Select ‘Study Information.’
Common DICOM Problem
Patient/Exam Information Data screen will appear.
If any items are incorrect, click on ‘Edit’ to change.

On Version 1.5 systems, the


Edit button will be grayed out.
Editing is not possible!
Common DICOM Problem
The screen will change to allow you to correct any
item. After correcting, click on ‘Update Study.’

Common DICOM Problem
The system will ask for confirmation. Click on ‘Yes’ and
the information will be corrected. The study will transfer.
Common DICOM Problem
If any of the other DICOM tags have non-allowed characters in them,
they will also stop the transfer. If you examine the DICOM Error Log,
it will list the tag that was causing the problem. Use the picture below
to identify the offending data. Then correct the study data.
