Typing into the command bar requires no special procedure. LATS CAD 2 will automatically
assume that you are inputting a value into the command bar as soon as you start typing.
Upon initiating a command, you will be prompted with further directions. For example, upon
selecting the copy icon ( ) from the Symbol menu the command bar will look like this:
As the command bar suggests, you can copy equipment by selecting the equipment from the
drawing area, access multiple copy option by typing M, access floor copy option by typing F,
or access room copy option by typing R. After inputting the desired value, press ENTER to
continue with the command execution or press ESC to terminate the command. Should you
need to view earlier command prompts you can click on the gray portion of the command bar
and scroll up/down with your mouse wheel.
It is important to note that, by default, you only access AutoCAD commands from the
command bar. For example, typing “copy” into the command bar will give you the AutoCAD
version of the copy command. This is made evident by the lack of multiple, floor or room
copy options that are available in the LATS CAD 2 version. However, you can still configure
LATS CAD 2 to incorporate command access from the command bar.
Pan
The pan command shifts the view of the drawing area. You can access the pan command by
dragging your middle mouse button or you can go to Menu Bar View Pan Real-time.
Zoom
The zoom command changes the magnification of the drawing area. You can zoom in by
scrolling the middle mouse upwards or go to Menu Bar View Zoom Zoom In.
Zooming in will increase the magnification of the drawing area allowing you to see smaller
detail. You can zoom out by scrolling the middle mouse downwards or go to Menu Bar
View Zoom Zoom Out. Zooming out will decrease the magnification of the drawing area
allowing you to see the bigger picture.

3. Exported drawings will have both a common filename and a numerical suffix. Set the
filename of the exported drawings in the “Prefix” field. If you are exporting more than one
file, all exported files will share the identical name as the value placed in this “Prefix” field.
The numerical suffix for each exported drawing, however, is unique. Each drawing will be
provided a numerical suffix consecutive to the starting number. To alter the starting
number, you can edit the “Start No.” field. To better explain how both fields work, consider a
three story building with “market” in the “Prefix” field and “5” in the “Start No.” field. Three
DWG files named market5, market6, and market7 will export to the SaveDWG file when
using the Floor Border Area option.
4. Press OK.
Adding a Building
Adding a building will register basic floor information within your building and set an
AutoCAD file as a background drawing in the drawing area. It is one of the first steps in using
LATS CAD 2.
1. Go to LatsCAD Master Menu Main tab Building category.
2. Click on the “Add Building” setting value. A >> button will appear.
3. Click on the >> button. A building information management window will appear.
Using Excel
Selecting the Excel option will allow LATS CAD 2 to extract basic building information from a
given excel file. It is required that the excel file include the building name, the number of
floors below and above ground, and the height of each room. However, you can also include
other information such as floor and room names, and the loads for each room. Doing so can

error has been fixed because the changes have not been registered within the system. It is
recommended that you run a drawing refresh in between error checks or when any changes
made to the project do not seem to be registering into LATS CAD 2.
The drawing check command searches for indoor units that do not have a refrigerant line
connected to an outdoor unit. Indoor units that produce an error will be highlighted in pink and
can be found under the expandable category labeled “Not connected indoor units. “ You can resolve
errors by either deleting unconnected indoor units or creating a new refrigerant pipe from the
indoor unit to the main pipe.

outdoor unit. Drain pipes end at a drain exit (or an elbow or t-connector depending on
configuration settings) rather than an outdoor unit. Indoor units that produce an error will be
highlighted in pink under the expandable “Not connected indoor units” category. Errors can be
resolved by adding in a drain line to the unconnected indoor unit.

The Control Solution Check searches for indoor units that are not connected to a controller or
outdoor unit via a control line. A control line that is not connected to both a controller and outdoor
unit will produce an error. Indoor units that produce an error will be highlighted in pink. You can
resolve errors by adding in a control line to the controller or outdoor unit.
